Position description

The Climate Change Manager will spearhead CABI's efforts in climate change adaptation, mitigation, and resilience in agriculture and the environment. This pivotal role involves leveraging CABI's expertise to mainstream climate-focused approaches, coordinating efforts to make science-based contributions to global processes, and leading strategic initiatives to address climate change.

Responsibilities:

  • Lead strategic implementation of CABI's Medium Term Strategy goal on climate change, particularly through the PlantwisePlus program;
  • Develop and implement CABI's offer to member countries to meet their climate objectives, focusing on transformative solutions impacting agrifood systems;
  • Coordinate research aims on climate adaptation, resilience, and mitigation outlined in the CABI Science Strategy 2022-2025;
  • Collaborate with CABI teams to embed climate approaches in proposals, identify funding mechanisms, and develop new climate change projects and programs;
  • Build strategic partnerships with international development partners, research organisations, UN agencies, and other relevant networks;
  • Mentor climate change staff and consultants, represent CABI's climate work externally, and contribute to scientific research publications;
  • Ensure adherence to organisational policies and procedures, including HR, health and safety, financial management, and IPR.

Requirements:

  • Minimum 10 years' experience in climate change adaptation in agriculture;
  • Strong knowledge of agriculture, environment, and international climate change processes;
  • Experience in program/project development under public and private funding;
  • Proficiency in research, leadership, cross-cultural collaboration, and strategic planning;
  • Fluency in English, with additional language skills advantageous;
  • Willingness to travel frequently to international meetings, CABI projects, and other offices worldwide.
