We are recruiting a Junior EU Public Affairs Manager for KI (Knauf Insulation). This position reports hierarchically to the Group Public and Regulatory Affairs Director, based in the Brussels office.

The position is a maternity cover for a period of 12 months from the starting date and is likely to be confirmed as an open-ended contract during the mission.

Knauf Insulation is recruiting a Junior EU Public Affairs professional for its EU representation office Brussels office. The successful candidate would join the company and the public and regulatory affairs department. She/he would be based in Knauf Insulation's Brussels office, with regular travel to production sites (in Belgium and elsewhere in Europe) (roughly 15% travel expectations).

What you’ll be doing:

You participate in regular team and department meetings. You will support the department by:

  • Monitoring, attending and reporting on European Parliament Committee meetings (ITRE, etc.) pertaining to energy, electricity market, energy efficiency and buildings’ policy files;
  • Reporting on Council of the European Union meetings and initiatives focused on energy policies;
  • Performing stakeholder mapping and assessing the position of stakeholders on strategic energy policy files;
  • Preparing clear-cut briefings for external (policy meetings/conferences) and internal purposes;
  • Advocating in favour of the company’s position towards EU policymakers (e.g., MEPs, Perm Reps, Commission officials) together with the Group Public and Regulatory Affairs Director;
  • Supporting the preparation of contributions to EU associations and participate in the work in the associations;
  • Organising internal public affairs meetings and external events;
  • Drafting and supporting the preparation of public affairs and corporate communication materials.

We're looking for someone who has excellent oral and written communication skills, is well organised and is a team player, and someone who aspires to grow in a corporate environment.

If you have experience in the following areas – this is an added advantage:

  • Master’s degree in European Affairs, Political Science, Law, Economics or Business (though not exclusively) or equivalent by experience;
  • Public affairs experience ranging from 1 to 3 years (traineeship included);
  • Experience working with EU institutions, business or trade associations and multi-stakeholder groups including NGOs is a plus;
  • Fluent spoken and written English – any other EU language, German, or a Eastern European language would be an asset;
  • Excellent computer skills (MS Office 365 required).
