Position description

Provide support to Department programs in areas related to national security and nonproliferation of WMD-related technologies. Provide project implementation, development and execution of training and capacity building nonproliferation efforts.

 

Develop, manage and evaluate training activities for nonproliferation. Support development of nonproliferation tools and resources. Facilitate and coordinate nonproliferation related trainings, meetings and projects virtually, on site at Argonne, or in foreign countries as assigned, including by providing input and recommendations for U.S. participation in these activities.

 

This position can be performed remotely, onsite, or a hybrid of the two.

 

Position Requirements

  • Minimum education/experience: Bachelors and 5+ years’ experience, Masters and 3+ years’ experience, PhD and 0+ years’ experience, or equivalent

  • Knowledge of U.S. and international nonproliferation policies and regimes, with a focus on nuclear nonproliferation, nuclear security, nuclear energy development, international safeguards and/or export controls and related regimes.

  • Knowledge of Department of Energy, National Nuclear Security Administration, International Atomic Energy Agency, and/or Department of State programs and activities.

  • Experience working in multidisciplinary and multi-organization teams to lead and execute nonproliferation related training and/or research and development.

  • Experience organizing, providing subject matter expertise to, facilitating and/or leading training workshops or other capacity building engagements.

  • Background in engineering, science, international relations, or foreign affairs.

  • Experience coordinating and leading projects.

  • Proficiency in a WMD-related technical area (e.g., biology, chemistry, missile technology, or nuclear engineering) preferred.

  • Organizational skills and the ability to solve problems independently.

  • Oral and written communication skills and interpersonal skills.

  • Familiarity and experience with web applications, databases, and analytical tools.
