To continue on this journey, the Volvo Group is seeking a new Head of EU Representation Office to run Volvo Group’s Representation in Brussels. The current Head of EU Representation Office is moving to a new exciting role in the headquarters in Gothenburg, Sweden.

 

What will you do?

 

Volvo Group seeks a highly experienced and visionary leader to helm their EU Representation Office in Brussels. The Head of the Volvo Group EU Representation Office will play a pivotal role in advancing the Group’s strategic interests within the European Union by leveraging its unique industry expertise and market insights. Leading a dedicated team, this senior position will be instrumental in informing EU policy, driving industry competitiveness, and transforming the society.
 
Key Responsibilities:

  • Strategic Leadership and Team Management:
    • Provide strategic direction and leadership to the EU Representation Office, managing a team of lobbyists.
    • Cultivate a high-performance, collaborative culture, ensuring the team is motivated and equipped to achieve organizational goals.
    • Mentor and develop team members, fostering their professional growth and enhancing their skills.
  • Policy Influence and Advocacy:
    • Develop and execute comprehensive lobbying strategies to advance Volvo Group’s policy objectives within the EU.
    • Monitor, analyze, and anticipate EU legislative and regulatory developments impacting the industry and transport sectors.
    • Proactively engage with EU policymakers to shape favorable regulatory and policy outcomes in key discussions e.g. Climate & Energy, Safety, Trade, Sustainability & Environment, Digital and EU Funding.
  • Stakeholder Engagement and Relationship Building:
    • Establish and maintain strong, influential relationships with key EU institutions, policymakers, industry associations, and other relevant stakeholders.
    • Act as the primary representative of Volvo Group in high-level meetings, conferences, and industry forums.
    • Facilitate strategic interactions between Volvo Group executives and EU officials, ensuring alignment and advocacy effectiveness.
  • Communication and Positioning:
    • Articulate and advocate Volvo Group’s positions on critical policy issues through compelling position papers, policy briefs, and other advocacy materials.
    • Ensure cohesive and consistent communication of Volvo Group’s policy stances across all advocacy efforts.
    • Collaborate with internal departments to synchronize lobbying activities with the Group’s broader strategic objectives.
  • Event Strategy and Execution:
    • Strategic planning and successful execution of events, workshops, and seminars that support Volvo Group’s advocacy initiatives.
    • Ensure that events are impactful, enhancing Volvo Group’s visibility and influence within the EU policy landscape.

Who are you?

  • Passion in transforming industry and society towards a sustainable future.
  • Master’s degree in Political Science, International Relations, Law, Public Affairs, or a related field.
  • At least 10 years of senior-level experience in public affairs, lobbying, or governmental relations, with a deep understanding of EU institutions.
  • Demonstrated success in influencing EU policy and driving industry competitiveness through strategic advocacy.
  • In-depth knowledge of the automotive and transport industries, including regulatory and policy frameworks.
  • Exceptional leadership and team management abilities, with a track record of building and leading high-performing teams.
  • Superior communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to navigate and thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
  • Proficiency in English; additional EU languages are an asset such as Swedish and French.
