Position Overview

The Department of Political Science at The Ohio State University invites applications for a position in International Relations (IR) at the rank of assistant professor to begin in August 2025. Substantive areas of interest include, but are not limited to, global governance, security (broadly defined), foreign policy, political psychology, and IR theory. Candidates are expected to have methodological training appropriate to their research interests. We are particularly interested in candidates who are keen to join a pluralistic IR group and to engage with other programs and interdisciplinary centers at the university.

 

Performance Objectives

Responsibilities of the position include:

  • maintaining a research program;
  • contributing to graduate and undergraduate teaching and mentoring;
  • engaging in service to the department, university, and profession.

 

Education and Experience Requirements

Required: Candidates must have a PhD in Political Science or related discipline by August 2025. Successful candidates must be trained in International Relations (IR) or a related subfield, including methodological training appropriate to research specialization.

 

Desired: Preference is given to candidates with a record of publications and/or working papers, and to those providing evidence of accomplishments in teaching and/or mentoring. Candidates should demonstrate a commitment to building a diverse intellectual community, in line with OSU’s Shared Values (see below).
