Position description

This position is located at Departmental Offices, Terrorist and Financial Intelligence - Office of Foreign Assets Control. As a Deputy Assistant Director, Regulatory Affairs, you will work in conjunction with the Assistant Director for Regulatory Affairs to provide senior-level expertise and oversight to highly complex economic sanction regulatory issues and programs and to assist in the management of the Regulatory Affairs Division.

As a Deputy Assistant Director Regulatory Affairs, you will:

  • Coordinate and manage the Regulatory Affairs Division including the receipt, assignment for action, analysis, interagency coordination, and recommended action regarding matters assigned to the Division.
  • Assist the Assistant Director for Regulatory Affairs in the overall regulatory management of OFAC sanctions programs, implementing economic and trade sanctions imposed by various sanctions-related statutes and Executive orders.
  • In consultation and coordination with the Assistant Directors for Regulatory Affairs and Policy and the Chief Counsel (Foreign Assets Control), direct the formulation and revision of all regulations and other regulatory documents implementing economic sanctions programs administered by OFAC.
  • Participate in interagency meetings, providing expert guidance on issues relating to regulatory matters and provide briefings for members of Congress and/or their staff concerning sanctions implementation.
  • In conjunction with the Assistant Director for Regulatory Affairs, oversee the Treasury Department's Presidential Documents process with respect to economic sanctions.

Key Requirements:

  • Must be U.S. Citizen or U.S. National.
  • A one-year probationary period may be required.

  • Must successfully complete a background investigation.

Qualifications

You must meet the following requirements by the closing date of this announcement.


SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: For the GS-15, you must have one year of specialized experience at a level of difficulty and responsibility equivalent to the GS-14 grade level in the Federal service. Specialized Experience for this position includes:

  • Assisting in managing and participating in the formulation and revision of regulations and regulatory documents implementing economic sanctions programs; AND
  • Developing recommendations for improvement to implement U.S. foreign policy, Executive actions, and legislative changes; AND
  • Leading multiple project teams in the performance of work involving program reviews, analyses and development of cross-agency activities.


The experience may have been gained in either the public, private sector or volunteer service. One year of experience refers to full-time work; part-time work is considered on a prorated basis.
