Position description

Reporting to the CEO, you will support the Mérieux Foundation USA in developing programs and expanding collaboration with US partners and donors to build local capacities to fight infectious diseases and improve the living conditions of the most vulnerable in low-income countries. You will work closely with the CEO as well as technical experts in France and around the world. You will be a full-time employee with a comprehensive benefits package.

Main missions

  • Contribute to building the strategic plan for program development and resource mobilization with the CEO and ensure its execution.
  • Identify partners in the US which have a strategy, competencies, experience, and footprint that are aligned or complementary with the Mérieux Foundation USA.
  • Identify new funding opportunities through active scoping and networking with existing and potential partners through direct connections as well as conferences and events.
  • Prepare compelling grant proposals, concept notes, solicitation letters, and talking points, working closely with Mérieux Foundation and partner technical teams.
  • Understand and convey the value of the Mérieux Foundation’s work to current and potential funders.
  • Cultivate and maintain strong relationships with a portfolio of current and potential funders and partners, managing meetings, follow-up, and correspondence.
  • Expand and maintain the funder database with background information and up-to-date data on activities.
  • Ensure the timely execution of project deliverables and reporting by technical teams in the field, in line with funder and grant requirements.
  • Manage the donation and grant agreement process, grant modifications and special reporting needs, and liaise with funders when modifications or extensions are required.
  • Collaborate with the Finance Manager to develop budgets and monitor project spending and execution.
  • Organize events and other outreach activities for visibility, prospects and donors.

Qualifications

  • Degree in International Affairs, Public Health or related field (Nonprofit Management, Business Administration, Communications/Marketing, Health Policy or Public Administration…)
  • A minimum of 5 years of experience in the international development, global health or humanitarian sectors.
  • Experience in developing a resource mobilization strategy for public and private donors for INGOs or Universities.
  • Demonstrated success managing fundraising or other revenue-generating programs resulting in measurable revenue growth.
  • At ease in an international, multi-cultural environment a must, French language skills a major plus.
  • Outstanding verbal and written communication skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to produce compelling content and messages across all communication channels.
  • Experience in grant writing and program management in the field.
  • Aptitude to quickly absorb new information and pull together tailored proposals and presentations.
  • Experience building budgets according to different kinds of US government grants.
  • Highly organized and at ease in a fast-paced environment with the ability to quickly pull together and tailor presentations, proposals, etc.
  • A self-starter, comfortable working independently.
  • Systematic, organized and detail-oriented.
  • Action-oriented and results driven.

Location: The HQ of the Merieux Foundation USA is located in Washington DC. The position will be remote and can be based on the East Coast with easy access to Washington. Some travel in the country and abroad (France and potentially in the field) will be required.
