Meta is seeking an experienced professional to lead our public policy work on both competition policy and on AI Foundation models. As Public Policy Manager, you will join the Meta Policy Team in Europe, helping our national policy teams to shape issues and product agendas with policymakers inside and outside of government. You will also advise our internal teams on the public policy implications of our products and wider positions as a company, working with a cross-functional global team The role requires significant experience either working with or in government, politics, regulatory agencies or think tanks, as well as an ability to grasp complex technical and policy issues. You will need knowledge of existing technology policy issues impacting the competition landscape and those driving the policy debate about AI foundation models. You will need a strong understanding of competition policy issues, including recent legislative frameworks such as the Digital Markets Act (DMA) and also knowledge of the issues around Europe’s AI landscape, including major academic centers, trade bodies, government institutions and public commentators. Equally important is an understanding of how to translate technical issues into persuasive public policy advocacy. You will work with cross-functional teams across Meta to devise and execute on public policy campaigns and to advance Meta's mission to create a more open and connected world. Successful candidates will enjoy public speaking and be excited about the possibility of representing Meta externally, including in difficult, high-stakes conversations with external stakeholders. They will be passionate, articulate proponents of the ability of open source AI to enable European governments and industry.
Public Policy Manager, Competition and AI Foundation Models Responsibilities
Work closely with the Policy leadership team in Europe to shape and ensure delivery of the regional strategies for Competition Policy and for AI foundation models in the region
Represent Meta to external policy stakeholders at events, conferences, technical meetings with regulators, and other public forums
Brief senior executives across Meta on the risks and opportunities emerging from the policy and political landscape in Europe
Advise Meta’s internal teams on a wide range of competition and regulatory issues in Europe, with a specific focus on AI foundation model issues, to guide development of products and policies
Build winning campaign narratives and third party mobilisation strategies in collaboration with Meta’s Europe Campaigns team and other cross-functional teams
Work closely with AI Policy and Reality Labs teams to ensure a coherent strategy across foundation models and Meta products
Minimum Qualifications
8+ years of legal and/or public policy experience
Experience working on the intersection between public policy and AI foundation models
Fluency in English
Expert knowledge of competition policy, including the foundational legislative instruments in Europe, like the Digital Markets Act
Bachelor's degree or equivalent in policy, international affairs, or other related field
Preferred Qualifications
10+ years of legal and/or public policy experience
