Position description

The Coalition for the International Criminal Court (CICC) is seeking a dedicated and skilled Communications and Graphic Design Consultant to support its work ahead of and during the 23rd session of the ICC-Assembly of States Parties (“ASP23”), taking place in The Hague, The Netherlands, from the 2 to 7 December 2024. This is a unique opportunity to make a meaningful contribution to international justice, gain exposure to international justice civil society, and support the work of civil society at the annual plenary session of the States Parties to Rome Statute of the ICC.

As a consultant, you will support the Coalition’s Communications and Campaign Officer in managing critical media and communications tasks during ASP23. You will be involved in various responsibilities, ranging from content creation, graphic design and media monitoring to logistical support. This role offers an immersive experience in the global efforts to combat impunity for international crimes.

The Coalition for the International Criminal Court is the world’s largest civil society partnership advancing the global fight against impunity for serious international crimes. Its membership and work are facilitated by its International Secretariat, with staff in New York, The Hague, and Brussels. You can learn more about us at www.coalitionfortheicc.org and on our social media (TwitterFacebook, and LinkedIn).

What’s in it for you:

  • Contribute to global justice: You will play a role in advancing the Coalition’s mission to promote accountability for grave international crimes, contributing directly to the fight against impunity.
  • Work with inspiring human rights defenders and civil society representatives: Collaborate with and learn from passionate advocates for human rights and international justice from around the world, gaining insights into their work and strategies.
  • Networking opportunities: The ASP session attracts a wide range of stakeholders from governments, NGOs, and the International Criminal Court. This is an opportunity to expand your professional network in the international justice and human rights sectors.

This is an exceptional opportunity for those interested in international justice, media, communications, and civil society engagement.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Ensure clear, accurate, and timely communication of the Coalition for the ICC’s activities and those of its members ahead of and during ASP23. This includes amplifying the visibility of CICC and its members on social media, showcasing our presence at the ASP23 session, and driving attention to our work through compelling content and strategic messaging.
  • In coordination with CICC Communications staff, draft and translate various types of content for ASP23, including website materials, social media posts, press releases, and other communication assets tailored for specific needs.
  • Design engaging visual content, such as infographics and high-quality videos, for a global audience. Ensure the content effectively communicates key messages across various platforms.
  • Monitor real-time media updates on social media, tracking content published by relevant stakeholders during ASP23, providing updates to the CICC International Secretariat team.
  • Attend and document high-level meetings and side events related to international justice during ASP23, capturing key moments through professional photography and videography for use in communications and reporting.

Person requirements:

  • Native or professional level written and oral fluency in English, and in French or Spanish, is required.
  • Proven background in Communications, International Relations, Political Science, Journalism, Law, or related disciplines.
  • Proven experience with graphic design and editing tools such as Canva, Photoshop, Illustrator, and InDesign, with the ability to create visually appealing content for social media, publications, and website updates.
  • Experience in maintaining brand consistency across different types of media, ensuring that the tone, style, and messaging align with the organisation’s goals and objectives.
  • Experience in adapting content for multiple platforms (e.g., website, Twitter, Facebook, LinkedIn) to optimise reach and effectiveness, ensuring content is tailored to platform-specific audiences and formats.
  • Interest in international law and justice with a demonstrated commitment to the mission of combating impunity for international crimes.
