Radio Free Europe/Radio Liberty (RFE/RL) is looking to hire a Senior OSINT/ING/UGC Producer to join the Investigations/OSINT desk in our broadcasting headquarters in Prague.
The Investigations/ OSINT team is a highly specialized group bringing together the best verification, disinformation, digital forensics, open-source intelligence (OSINT) and user-generated content (UGC) experts. The team produces and reports in multiplatform formats to reach a digital-native audience. They showcase the advanced editorial tools and techniques to investigate, source and verify information, video and images. As the battle against disinformation in news becomes increasingly challenging, the team plays a key role in verifying the accuracy and authenticity of sources from open and social media platforms.
This Senior Producer role requires a highly self-motivated, proactive, and ambitious journalist who is hungry to produce groundbreaking journalism of the highest quality for both international, regional and local audiences. This role will be central to driving award-winning investigative journalism, using open-source intelligence (OSINT), user-generated content (UGC), and traditional investigative techniques to break major stories, compete in the global media landscape, and make a real impact.
You will lead investigations from concept to publication, collaborating with Central News and language service teams to deliver in-depth, impactful stories. This is an exciting and competitive role for someone who thrives on breaking stories, pushing boundaries, and setting the standard for investigative journalism. Reporting to the Executive Producer the successful candidate will work in close collaboration with the other main hubs in the central newsroom – the Core Content Desk, Impact & Planning Hub, Graphics & Data Desk and On-The-Day Desk – to provide a comprehensive response on international news stories and ensure that the highest production and editorial values are met on RFE/RL’s content, thus maximizing its reach to audiences.
What you will accomplish:
- Taking initiative in identifying, conceptualizing, and executing major investigations that set the agenda for international news. Leading complex investigations that uncover critical issues across our broadcast regions, relentlessly pursuing the truth.
- Driving the production of high-quality, high-impact stories, competing at the highest levels of global journalism. Aiming to break exclusive stories that make headlines and establish the organization as a leader in investigative journalism.
- Using cutting-edge OSINT tools and UGC verification techniques to identify, analyze, and verify crucial information. From satellite imagery to social media content, deploying the latest digital tools to enhance investigations.
- Proactively building and managing sources, from OSINT experts to user-generated content networks, to gain access to critical information in real time.
- Ensuring all UGC and OSINT is rigorously verified, maintaining the highest standards of accuracy, transparency, and journalistic integrity.
Qualifications
What you bring:
- 3-5 years of professional experience in investigative journalism, with a proven track record of breaking major stories and delivering impactful, high-quality investigative content. Thorough understanding of Editorial and Legal considerations in journalism.
- Proficiency in digital research methods related to news investigations.
- Demonstrated expertise in using OSINT tools and UGC verification in investigative work, with a history of turning complex data into compelling stories. A proactive attitude towards continuous learning and adaptation to new technologies in investigative journalism.
- Experience working in international contexts, particularly in regions with restricted press freedom, is highly desirable.
- Familiarity with open-source intelligence (OSINT) tools and techniques, with experience using social media tracking, public databases, and online research tools to gather and verify information.
- Excellent communication skills; fluency in English, knowledge of at least one other RFE/RL broadcast region language is highly desirable.
- Ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.
