Position Summary
WPI is seeking a part-time Program Manager with a strong background in journalism and event planning to oversee key aspects of its 9-week US fellowship program and annual Bulgarian conference. This individual will also bring a deep understanding of international relations, facilitating cross-cultural exchanges and managing high-level engagements with influential leaders and institutions. The ideal candidate is highly organized, thrives in a dynamic environment, and excels at managing sensitive communications with professionalism and discretion.
Key Responsibilities
Program Coordination & Event Planning
- Assist in planning the complex schedules for WPI’s nine-week fellowship program, including organizing meetings with media leaders, policymakers, and cultural influencers across the U.S.
- Help coordinate WPI’s annual New Horizons Journalism Conference, including speaker recruitment, agenda development, and event logistics.
- Oversee event promotion, including creating marketing materials, coordinating media outreach, and ensuring high attendance at public forums and workshops.
International Relations & Engagement
- Facilitate cross-cultural dialogue and collaboration among fellows, alumni, and international partners.
- Serve as a liaison between WPI and global stakeholders, fostering relationships built on trust and cultural sensitivity.
- Manage communications with high-level individuals and institutions, ensuring professionalism and discretion in all interactions.
On-Site Program Support
- Be present for key program activities in Minnesota, supporting fellows during meetings and events.
- Capture program highlights through documentation and photography for marketing and reporting purposes.
- Coordinate with host families, venue staff, and other local partners to ensure smooth operations.
Qualifications
- Required:
- Strong background in journalism, communications, or event planning.
- Proven experience managing high-profile events and coordinating complex schedules.
- Proficiency in digital marketing, social media management, and email communication platforms.
- Demonstrated ability to work with diverse cultural groups and maintain professionalism in high-stakes situations.
- Preferred:
- Familiarity with international relations or cross-cultural program management.
- Based in the Minneapolis/St. Paul area for in-person program support.
- Previous experience in nonprofit or educational organizations.
- Availability for program assistance and travel during U.S. fellowship program in September and October
