World Conference of Religions for Peace Inc. (Religions for Peace) is the largest and most representative global multi-religious coalition advancing common action among religious communities for peace. Headquartered in New York City and accredited to the United Nations, Religions for Peace works through more than 90 regional and national inter-religious councils and groups; global, regional, national and local networks of religious youth and women of faith; and a World Council of senior religious leaders. Through these infrastructures built on the principle of religious representativity, reflecting the fabric of religious demography on those levels, Religions for Peace creates effective multi-religious partnerships to build peace, including working to stop war, end poverty and protect the earth.

Religions for Peace is seeking an experienced professional to serve as an International Development (ID) Manager, tasked with advancing Religions for Peace’s programmes, specifically related to four of its six strategic priority areas:

  • Promote peaceful, just and inclusive societies
  • Advance gender equality
  • Nature a sustainable environment
  • Champion freedom of thought, conscience and religion

The ID Manager will work under the supervision of the Deputy Secretary General. In that capacity s/he will contribute to providing general oversight for and guidance to staff working on related areas.

Position Overview

The ID Manager will be responsible for developing a strategy and leading Religions for Peace’sprogrammatic efforts to addressing the world’s most pressing economic, environmental, health and other development and humanitarian challenges. This would focus on work to advance a just and inclusive societies through the elimination of poverty, discrimination and injustice as well as through the protection of human rights and the environment. The work will be guided by the Religions for Peace four strategic priorities areas mentioned above and the United Nations 17 Sustainable Development Goals that emphasize on partnership and collaboration to end poverty, protect the planet and ensure prosperity for all.

The ID Manager works as a member of Religions for Peace International Secretariat and reports to Deputy Secretary General.

Responsibilities

These include but are not limited to the following:

  • Develop a strategy and an integrated, cross-disciplinary framework for Religions for Peace related to its international development work
  • Be au currant with the international development environment and develop policy briefs on various Religions for Peace area of work to guide the movement in programme implementation
  • Provide regular system-wide perspective on international development and its main actors, trends and challenges
  • Lead in the management of relevant Religions for Peace’s programmes and development of new programme initiatives, as well as in liaison with appropriate strategic partners.
  • Provide day-to-day oversight of related project coordination and implementation.
  • Manage the formulation, oversight and reporting of relevant programme budgets, and donor compliance supporting documents
  • Conduct the full range of activities required to prepare, submit and manage grant proposals as well as prepare regular reports on specific programme activities.
  • Guide and work in close collaboration with the Communication Specialist and the Knowledge Management Officer to develop relevant stories, case studies and collect/analyze data from the IRCs

Qualifications

  • Master’s or higher degree in International Development or relevant field preferred
  • At least seven years’ experience in and with international development working in a non-profit or faith-based organization
  • Creative and strategic thinker with a track record of generating innovative ideas and taking initiative.
  • Demonstrated management record of diverse and multicultural staff in multiple countries.
  • Strong organizational/planning and analytical skills that reflect ability to perform and prioritize multiple tasks seamlessly with excellent attention to detail
  • Very strong communication and interpersonal skills with multi-cultural/multi-religious sensitivity.
  • Ability to multitask to ensure timely and efficient delivery in a fast-paced environment under tight deadlines within a small team
  • Highly resourceful team-player, with the ability to also be extremely effective independently
  • English fluency is required. Language skills or fluency in Spanish, French or Arabic is a plus.

Salary Range

80,000 - 100,000 USD (depending on qualification and experience) + generous benefits.
