The Department of History, Philosophy, Politics, Global Studies & Legal Studies at Morehead State University is accepting applications for a full-time, tenure-track position as an Assistant Professor, Political Science, International Relations, or International Affairs. The anticipated start date is August 11, 2025.
The Department of History, Philosophy, Politics, Global Studies, and Legal Studies faculty has a strong commitment to student learning outside of the classroom. Faculty advise several student organizations, including the Model UN Club, Model EU Club, MSU Intelligence Club, Historical Society, and the International Student Association. Furthermore, faculty have led study abroad programs in China, Vietnam, Poland, Hungary, Romania, Ukraine, France, Finland, Sweden, and other destinations. Numerous faculty mentor undergraduate student research projects every year.

RESPONSIBILITIES: Primary responsibility is instruction in the Global Studies program and/or related fields. Additional duties include, but are not limited to, serving as nucleus faculty for the Master of Public Administration, teaching general education courses, advising students, and participating in department, college, and university service opportunities. Engaging in scholarly activity (research/professional development) is expected. The Assistant Professor teaches 24 credit hours per year.
REQUIREMENTS: Terminal degree in Political Science, International Relations, International Affairs, or a closely related discipline as recognized by the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools. Exceptional ABD candidates may also be considered. The candidate must have 18 graduate hours in Geography.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: Significant teaching experience in higher education and evidence of scholarly or professional achievements beyond the minimum qualifications for this rank. Preference is given to those with the ability to teach courses on East Asia, Latin America or Africa, and/or the ability to teach courses in Security and Intelligence Studies. Ability to teach quantitative methods courses. Ability to teach effectively in online and face-to-face formats.
