Teach courses in comparative politics covering Western, Central, Eastern Europe, Russia, and the European Union. Specific courses will include Introduction to World Politics, Foundations of Democracy, and upper division courses in the undergraduate curriculum according to the instructor's expertise which should include international relations. Additionally, the assistant professor will engage in research and other scholarly activities; provide service to the department and college; and provide academic advisement and mentoring to students.
Functional and Supervisory Relationships
Works under the direct supervision of the department chair. Works closely with the department chair and faculty and staff within the department. Additional working relationships with faculty and staff in other college departments.
A Ph.D. in political science by the time of the appointment (or ABD with designated date of completion) is required. Candidates should also demonstrate a strong commitment to teaching and research, with a willingness to collaborate with other colleagues on campus in a variety of international experiential activities (e.g. coordination of Model EU simulation activity, study abroad, internships).
