ACCESS, AJC’s young leadership division, promotes AJC’s priorities through meaningful interactions with young thought-leaders, diplomats, and representatives of other ethnic and religious communities. Situated in the nation’s capital, ACCESS DC offers young professionals in their 20s and 30s unparalleled access to almost 170 local embassies, Capitol Hill, and a plethora of diverse communities. In recent years ACCESS has developed a strategic focus on Latino-Jewish and Muslim-Jewish engagement, with an emphasis on domestic and international relations.

About the ACCESS Associate:

The ACCESS Associate’s role is to bolster AJC’s work among young professionals in the DC, Maryland, and Virginia area. The ideal candidate will be committed to promoting the values and priorities of AJC through global Jewish advocacy. The candidate should demonstrate an ability to take initiative in designing programs that focus on AJC’s key priorities. ACCESS DC’s Associate will be a team player with a positive attitude, highly organized, and an articulate communicator (verbal and written). Lastly, the candidate will have a strong interest in relationship building within the Jewish community; between Jewish and non-Jewish communities. Past experience working with Muslim and Latino communities is a plus.

Associates will engage in professional development workshops alongside their ACCESS peers at annual conferences and programs. In addition, the Associate will be in frequent contact with ACCESS National for one-on-one support, and will take part in monthly calls for idea sharing and support. ACCESS DC’s Associate will report directly to the Assistant Regional Director and communicate daily to ensure follow through.

  • Collaborate and coordinate with AJC ACCESS National, both staff and volunteers, to implement global programming. 
  • Communicate with the ACCESS DC Board for planning and coordination of objectives
  • Recruit new ACCESS supporters with leadership potential in intercultural and diplomatic relations
  • Strengthen relationships with existing AJC religious and ethnic partners, with a special focus on young leaders
  • Develop and expand advocacy opportunities with partners
  • Develop strategies to expand the number of ACCESS donors and to increase the contributions of those already giving
  • Focus on media through updating the tracking working on social media through Facebook and sending press releases 
  • Work with the Washington Regional staff team on programs, events, and strategic planning


  • Bachelor’s degree required 
  • Strong organizational and time management skills
  • Excellent written and verbal communications skills
  • Ability to creatively and practically solve problems
  • Ability to multi-task and work on many projects simultaneously
  • Ability to work both independently and collaboratively with staff and lay leadership
  • Strong interest in and knowledge of the Jewish community
  • Excellent project management skills, ability to manage data and develop, implement and oversee budget
  • Grant writing experience a plus
  • A self-starter, willing to take initiative
  • Works well with diverse constituencies 
  • Positive attitude 
  • Availability for early morning and evening events; occasional weekend events
  • Experience with non-profits a plus
