The Vice Provost for International Affairs is charged with developing a shared vision for international affairs within the context of the university’s vision, mission, values and strategic planning process. This position is responsible for institutional development and oversight of university initiatives and global partnerships including international programs leading to a degree. The Vice Provost for International Affairs is further responsible for advancing the international profile and reputation of the university by enhancing the number and quality of international students attending UTA, working with units to attract distinguished international faculty and staff, collaborating with global education unit to build a continuum of course offerings ranging from in-person to online instructions, and developing a wide array of services, programs, experiences, and strategic partnerships that promote globalization within the university community. The Vice Provost for International Affairs collaborates with campus leadership in the areas of undergraduate and graduate admissions, course offerings, financial aid, and faculty mobility, as well as with departments, programs, centers, and administrative units that have significant international components.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Provide leadership in matters related to international students on and off campus by refining the University’s international enrollment and degree offering management plan with vision and strategies necessary for successful student recruitment and retention. Collaborate with colleges, academic departments, programs, and centers to create and manage successful and meaningful international academic programs and agreements including those leading to a degree between UTA and educational institutions abroad. Facilitate collaboration in the areas of study abroad, student exchange, and global education involving in-person and online course offerings. Responsible for institutional development of university-wide initiatives and global partnerships in the areas of international research and education. Ensure compliance with current federal, state, and UT System regulations and policies that affect international affairs of the university. Maintain a high level of professional visibility through active involvement in internationally focused organizations, committees, and groups. Perform other duties related to international affairs as assigned by the Provost.
Doctoral degree. Minimum of ten (10) years of executive level experience in higher education. Direct experience with at least two of the following: Study abroad and institutional partnerships. International student recruiting. Current knowledge of legal regulations impacting international students, faculty, or staff. Other international activities. Budget experience. Excellent communication skills. Visionary and collaborative leadership. Experience working with diverse populations.
Prior experience directing and managing international affairs or similar unit. Experience with international travel and global engagement.
