The Political Science Department at California State University, Channel Islands has a strong record of teaching and research. We offer a rich curriculum in which most aspects of the discipline and many areas of the globe are covered. Given the depth of our faculty's expertise and the range of the courses we offer, our strengths lie in the areas of American politics, international relations, comparative politics, political theory, and public law.
The program's accomplishments are not limited to its faculty. Our students regularly present their papers at national or regional conferences. The program's Model United Nations Program is one of the most successful in the nation, and has been repeatedly recognized for its outstanding achievements. The department is developing a strong pre-law focus with an eye toward offering students the opportunity to engage in moot court competitions and judicial internships.

- Applicants must be thoroughly prepared to teach courses in Judicial Politics, Judicial Process, Constitutional Law, Civil Liberties, Immigration Law, and the like
- Applicants whose primary field of study is Political Philosophy or Theory are discouraged from applying. However, the ability to teach Political Philosophy as a secondary focus is an asset.
