The Centre for Public Impact (CPI) is a global non-profit foundation, launched by Boston Consulting Group, with a vision to reimagine government to work for everyone. The CPI team in North America works with public servants and changemakers to develop breakthrough ideas and bring them to life. We make governments more empathetic, human, and collaborative so they can address pressing challenges and create a better future for all. We do this by being: a place where leaders and influencers come together to share insights, a trusted expert voice and source of insight on public impact, a source of practical tools and advice on how to deliver outcomes for citizens, and an executing partner to organizations seeking to drive public impact and social innovation. At CPI, we envision a world where the relationship between the public and the government is restored, resulting in policies that are truly designed to meet the needs of the public. Through our City Innovation work, we collaborate with local governments and their partners to create a new paradigm of public sector innovation that taps into the expertise of residents and frontline staff to address pressing societal challenges. To that end, we are seeking an outstanding leader to work with a major philanthropic organization to design and manage a forthcoming international city innovation project. This is a contractor role that will last for approximately 15 months starting in late summer 2020, with the strong possibility to convert to full time employment status following the completion of the contract term.


1.     Program Management 

  • In consultation with the Director of CPI North America, provide day-to-day management and oversight of the project in close coordination with our philanthropic partner
  • Lead all communications with senior and executive level stakeholders 
  • Manage the multi-million dollar program budget to ensure program costs remain within scope
  • Work closely with our philanthropic partner to identify and cultivate major NGO partners from across the globe that can support the project
  • Provide oversight and management of all vendors and contractors associated with the project
  • Provide day-to-day oversight of multiple project workstreams to ensure that the program operates within the approved budget and deadlines
  • Lead the development of to the strategy, design, and execution of key project milestones for participants 
  • Lead team to develop a set of impact metrics that can be tracked and reported on on an ongoing basis for each phase of the project

2.     People Management and Development 

  • Directly manage and mentor a team of 3-4 Associates/Senior Associates, providing constructive, actionable feedback on a regular basis
  • Provide structure and oversee work responsibilities to team members
  • Contribute to team members’ professional development 

3.     Thought Leadership  

  • Distill lessons learned from project work into higher level thought leadership that connects to CPI’s mission to reimagine government


  • We are seeking a high-energy, impact-minded leader with:
  • At least 8 years of relevant professional experience, in either an impact, policy, or service-oriented environment, or a consulting environment
  • Exceptional project management skills
  • University degree with demonstrated high academic achievement in a relevant field (e.g., Public policy, economics, government, social entrepreneurship or similar). Higher level degree (MBA / MPP or similar) highly desirable
  • Demonstrable knowledge of and passion for public impact and social innovation, particularly at the local level
  • Excellent managerial and interpersonal skills and a track record of developing people
  • Strong analytical problem-solving skills
