Position description

The Minotaur Group is a leading geopolitical risk management consultancy that brings over 20 years of industry experience to every project we undertake. We provide information and advisory services to corporations, government agencies, international organizations, NGOs and individuals.​

We are looking for a Myanmar specialist to be able to be a part of regular briefings to major international organization operating there.  This will be a contract position with an initial term of 1 year with a potential for a second. ​

The Job: This person will be a part of a team that will help prepare and provide briefings on the changing political, socio-economic, humanitarian, and conflict situation in Myanmar. The briefings will be monthly and will be tailored and delivered to different audiences including to senior management, field operators and to a board of directors of a major funding organization. While during the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic the briefings will be delivered virtually, if safety and travel restrictions allow however, some will be delivered in-person in Yangon, Myanmar.

Given that these briefings are expected to provide a regular analysis of trends rather than snapshots, the person will be expected to understand and keep updated about the various political, military, social, and economic developments in Myanmar.​


You are an international affairs professional and a specialist on Myanmar. You have done research and/or have worked in the country and you understand all aspects of the polity, economy, civil society, and culture. You have been closely following the Myanmar peace process and have established relationships with national and sub-national institutions in the country. You have in-depth knowledge of the political, social, and economic landscape of Myanmar as well as the geopolitics that influence Myanmar’s political dynamic over the past 10 years.

 Minimum Requirements (Need to have):​

·   An undergraduate degree in a related discipline

·   At least 10 years of experience in research and analysis, particularly with Myanmar or southeast Asia, especially with the dynamics of the Myanmar peace process

·   Proven experience in establishing and maintaining high-level contacts with local decision and policy makers.

·   Familiarity with the development context of Myanmar – the roles and projects of international development organizations, civil society organizations, the UN, etc.

·   Excellent analytical understanding of the Myanmar peace process and current conflicts

·   Providing tailored analysis both in writing and through briefings 

Desired Requirements (Nice to have):​

·   A graduate degree in a related discipline

·   Established relationships with national and sub-national institutions and entities involved in Myanmar’s peace process
