Our workplace is in the heart of the Financial District with breathtaking views of the Brooklyn Bridge and Pier at the Hudson River.


We are seeking an experienced operations advisors for travel and logistics coordination as it relates to the arrival and departure of AFS USA’s hosted participants. As the Regional Travel and Logistics Specialist (RTLS), you will manage program releases and waivers, as well as Early Returns for hosted students. Each RTLS is responsible for 1300+ participants, 40 area teams and 100+ volunteers. The RTLS works closely with the Participant Support team as well as the Travel and Logistics Department, with the focus of responsibilities changing seasonally according to AFS hosting and sending program cycles. This exciting opportunity may require some travel event site locations as needed.


The average work week is 35 hours. The standard workday for this position is 10:00a to 6:00pm, Monday through Friday. There will be times when hours will be altered due to seasonal fluctuations in workload and will include overtime, evening, and occasional weekend work. Travel to arrival/departure events is required in January, June, August, and September. Work will be a combination of remote, in the NY office as needed, and on-site.


We are currently looking for someone with:

  • Previous supervisory experience helpful.
  • BA/BS Degree in Project Management, Event Planning, International Relations or relevant experience.
  • Broad knowledge/experience of AFS or other intercultural student exchange program or cross-cultural experience preferred.
  • 2+ years of project/event coordination experience.
  • International travel and/or experience living abroad.
  • Experience volunteering or working with volunteers in a professional setting preferred
  • Driver’s license (required)
