Position description

As a Fundraising and Public Relations Officer you are based in our office in Bern with responsibility to work as part of multi-national secretariat team. We are seeking an enthusiastic, energetic, and innovative professional with track record on fundraising to help expand and maintain the International Blue Cross’s funds and portfolio of donors and to develop public relations activities further. Committed to work in a global Christian value-based organisation.

Your responsibilities

  • To raise funds for International Blue Cross;
  • To develop and maintain a portfolio of donors (donor mapping, relationship-building, enquiries);
  • Overseeing fundraising processes and tasks in cooperation with other staff members and volunteers;
  • Oversee and participate in creating content for social media activities in cooperation with staff/volunteers;
  • Draft and develop fundraising and public relations materials such as project descriptions, annual reports program sheets, donations letters in cooperation with staff and graphic designer;
  • Write proposals and provide donor reports in collaboration with the project personnel, in specific with the programme officer(s) in meeting the required deadlines;
  • Map and identify new funding prospects to expand on the existing donor portfolio;
  • Network and provide presentations for potential donors, in collaboration with the IBC General Secretary;
  • Represent IBC in meetings and meet with churches and other donors as appropriate;
  • Providing updates and hold presentations to the board of IBC;
  • Implement capacity-building measures for IBC member organisations and partners;
  • Oversee social media activities;
  • Manage webpage content and maintenance of webpage in cooperation with staff and volunteers;
  • To carry out other tasks as necessary for the smooth running of the International Blue Cross;
  • Occasional international travel ( 3-5 travel days/year or as agreed).


  • University degree or equivalent;
  • Fluent in German (native level) and professional level of English;
  • French and additional language skills are of advantage;
  • Solid writing and presentation skills;
  • Experience in successful fundraising in the international context and in Switzerland;
  • Available to work online as part of a matrix organisation;
  • Experience in partnership-building and networking online and offline;
  • Competent in handling databases, knowledge of CMS WordPress, IT skills and basic graphic design and photography skills;
  • Culture-sensitive communication and social skills;
  • Team player with hands-on mentality;
  • Flexibility and humour;
  • Must have a valid permit to work in Switzerland (no sponsorship needed).
