Position description

We have an amazing new opportunity for a Strategic Communications Specialist in the science and technology industry! This role will be responsible for writing press releases, speeches and other PR content. The ideal candidate has experience working with organizations in the space or national security industries.

This is an onsite role in the DMV area.

Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate directly with officials from the U.S. government's executive and legislative branches to facilitate both internal and external strategic communication endeavors.
  • Compose press releases for events related to national security and aerospace, targeting platforms such as SpaceNews, Aviation Weekly, Defense One, Washington Post, and others.
  • Cultivate strong connections with journalists to establish enduring relationships.
  • Generate opportunities for media coverage in various audio and video formats, including podcasts, on-camera interviews, and live streaming.
  • Oversee engagement with stakeholders and coordinate communication strategies.
  • Strategize, write, and create high-caliber written communication materials for both federal and commercial clients. These encompass talking points, briefings, and more.
  • Efficiently manage multiple tasks to swiftly adapt to shifting client priorities and address spontaneous demands.

Qualifications:

  • Experience level: Experienced
  • Completed M.S., M.A., or PhD in International Relations, Communications, Journalism, International Development, Social/Political Sciences, National Security, or any other relevant field.
  • Total experience must include 5+ years of prior national security (USGOV, military, contractor, policymaker, etc.) or public affairs experience.
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Suite.
  • Strong written, verbal communication, and analytical problem-solving skills.
  • Candidate must be eager to learn new technical concepts.
  • Detail-oriented, flexible, and proactive.
