Our flagship initiative, the Keeling Curve Prize, is a globally recognized annual award celebrating groundbreaking climate solutions. Backed by a rigorous scientific vetting process and a council of esteemed climate experts, the Prize has awarded $2.25 million to the world's most impactful nonprofit and for-profit organizations advancing climate action.
Position Summary:
The Marketing and Communications Manager will report directly to the Executive Director and will play a pivotal role in shaping the voice and reach of the Global Warming Mitigation Project (GWMP) and all its programs. This dynamic, self-starting individual will lead the development, execution, and management of GWMP's comprehensive marketing and communications strategy, driving engagement, amplifying our impact, and supporting our mission to mitigate global warming.
Key Responsibilities:
- Strategic Planning & Execution
- Develop, implement, and lead a year-long integrated marketing and communications strategy aligned with GWMP’s goals.
- Oversee campaigns for fundraising, program announcements, events, and other key organizational initiatives.
- Content Creation & Management
- Craft compelling press releases, newsletters, blogs, impact stories, and social media copy to communicate GWMP's mission and achievements effectively.
- Design professional marketing materials, maintaining consistent branding across all platforms.
- Manage and grow GWMP’s social media presence across all platforms, ensuring engaging and impactful content delivery.
- Produce donor-focused materials, such as annual reports, impact updates, and stewardship messaging.
- Media Relations
- Build and maintain relationships with journalists, influencers, and media outlets.
- Pitch stories and secure media coverage to elevate GWMP’s visibility and credibility.
- Secure new relationships with promotional partners and maintain current relationships to amplify announcements
- Website Management
- Regularly update the website with new content, blogs, announcements, and event details.
- Optimize the website for search engines (SEO).
- Technology & Tools
- Utilize GWMP's tech stack, including HubSpot, Fundraise Up, and WIX, to streamline marketing, fundraising, and website management processes.
- Analyze data and metrics to assess the effectiveness of campaigns and inform future strategies.
- Collaboration & Leadership
- Collaborate closely with the Executive Director and team members to align communications strategies with organizational priorities.
- Provide leadership in messaging, ensuring consistent and clear communication across all channels.
- Support the planning and execution of events, including promotional strategies and materials.
- Brand Management
- Ensure GWMP’s visual and written identity is consistently represented across all channels and materials.
Qualifications:
- Proven experience in marketing and communications, preferably in nonprofit or mission-driven organizations.
- Expertise in managing and growing social media accounts.
- Advanced proficiency with Canva for designing marketing and promotional materials.
- Exceptional writing skills, with experience crafting press releases, newsletters, blogs, and social media content.
- Hands-on experience with HubSpot, Fundraise Up, and WIX or similar tools.
- Strong media relations experience, including pitching stories and building relationships with journalists.
- Excellent organizational skills and ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
- Passion for climate change mitigation and environmental sustainability.
