The Mark and Kathryn Ford Family Foundation at FunLimón is a US-based non-profit organization located in El Limon 1, Tola, Nicaragua.

Our mission is to create educational opportunities for local community members in Limon #1 and surrounding communities. We offer youth and adult English language courses, computer classes, and INATEC accredited vocational courses. We also have an adult literacy program, youth sports program and offer micro-loans to local entrepreneurs. We support over 30 students with full-tuition university scholarships and organize several community outreach events every year, including our annual College Fair. We are a growing part of this quickly developing community and strive to help people obtain the knowledge and skills needed to be empowered agents of change in their communities.

We are looking for an experienced, passionate, forward-thinker to serve as the Director of the FunLimon community center and vocational institute at our site in Limon 1, Tola, Nicaragua.

Responsibilities

The FunLimon Director serves under the US-based Executive Director and is responsible for the oversight and management of all field operations and programming, which includes:

  • Directing a staff of 30 FunLimón team members, including program managers, accountants, professors and coaches
  • Serving as chief strategist for research, development, implementation, monitoring and evaluation of all education and sports programs
  • Leading curriculum development, community outreach projects and advocacy campaigns, ensuring that all initiatives positively reflect community priorities, while sustainably contributing to FunLimón’s mission, vision and future goals
  • Managing annual and monthly budgets, reviewing monthly financial reports and filing necessary legal and financial reports to government institutions
  • Serving as advisor and interpreter to facilitate communication and correspondence between Board Members, FunLimon staff, local community leaders and government officials
  • Leading development and fundraising initiatives while maintaining close communication with current donors
  • Creating and managing content for FunLimon’s website and social media sites

Qualifications

  • At least 3 years of experience working in non-profit management, preferably in Central America
  • 4-year degree in Education, International Relations, Latin American Studies or related field
  • Fluent in both English and Spanish
  • Exceptional communication skills
