Position Summary

The Nature Conservancy’s MN, ND, SD chapter seeks an experienced human resources management professional to join the operations team based in Minneapolis. The Human Resources & Office Manager serves an important leadership role in building a welcoming culture for the MN-ND-SD Chapter and the Minneapolis office. TNC values all staff, donors, trustees, members, partners, visitors and vendors. We endeavor to provide a welcoming, inclusive atmosphere for people to engage across differences whether those differences are obvious or subtle. We want people to feel invited, included and heard. In this position you will provide overall direction and strong, detailed management to achieve those results. The HR/Office Manager reports to the Chapter Director.

The HR/Office Manager will meet the strategic priorities of the Chapter by developing and coordinating policies, procedures and practices related to culture, human resources and office systems. They must be able to function productively as a member or leader of a work team and be able to work with and communicate with a wide range of people including the public, program leadership, donors, and others. They must consistently demonstrate professional, positive, and approachable attitude/demeanor and discretion and be able to provide a variety of information to staff and others to assist workflow throughout the organization. They must have the ability to travel for training or enrichment a few times each year and the ability to work longer hours during busy seasons.


  • Bachelor’s degree and 5 years related experience or equivalent combination, including 2 years managing human resources functions;
  • Experience managing and implementing multiple projects;
  • Experience generating human resources reports, and analyzing and interpreting data;
  • Experience developing and administering departmental budget or equivalent;
  • Experience negotiating agreements;
  • Experience supervising staff, interns, and/or volunteers;
  • Experience working with cross-functional teams. Demonstrated experience handling confidential information.
