Position description

Reporting to the Associate Director Engagement & Partnerships, the Digital Engagement Officer will be an integral part of HCWH Europe’s communications team, ensuring that our messaging is consistent across platforms, and engaging with key targeted audiences. With a keen eye for design, the ideal candidate will have proven experience with a range of digital communications platforms, including web, social media and email. They will be dynamic, extremely well organised, able to manage different demands, and work independently whilst being an excellent team player.

Key responsibilities:

  1. Co-develop and implement the organisation’s annual communications plan
  2. Co-develop and execute dissemination strategies for materials produced by HCWH Europe to key stakeholders
  3. Maintain, update, and implement HCWH Europe’s visual identity (including style guide and templates for communications materials)
  4. Lead on design of all external communication materials, e.g. infographics, social media messaging, position papers, reports, and other publications
  5. Act as the organisation’s main point of contact for external designers and other vendors for publications and other communications materials
  6. Lead on the development and implementation of the organisation’s social media strategy, managing the organisation’s social media channels on a dayto-day basis, continually growing our reach and engagement
  7. Lead the development of the organisation’s monthly newsletter and other email marketing
  8. Lead on the development and promotion of the organisation’s webinar series
  9. Manage the organisation’s websites on a day-to-day basis
  10. Provide communications and logistical support for on-going projects and events, including marketing and promotion via social media
  11. Participate in conferences, meetings, and events within Europe and internationally as required
  12. Carry out any other duties that may reasonably be required in the light of the main purpose of the job


Required qualifications and experience:

  • Minimum 3 years’ experience in similar role
  • University/higher education degree in a relevant field such as media, communications, marketing, web management, etc.
  • Demonstrable digital communication/marketing experience for a non-profit organisation, with a strong emphasis on measurable outputs and results
  • Experience managing multiple social media accounts
  • Experience with web management platforms (particularly Drupal and WordPress), as well as working with external developers
  • Experience creating visuals for social media and other web platforms, ideally with some formal qualification/training with desktop publishing and/or graphic design platforms such as Adobe InDesign or Illustrator
  • Experience working with contracted designers
  • Experience or interest in environmental and health issues Desired knowledge, skills, and abilities: Fluent English (verbal and written) is mandatory for this role; working knowledge of other European languages would be an advantage
  • Detail-oriented, with a keen eye for design
  • Ability to think strategically and creatively
  • Excellent IT and web management skills (experience with Salesforce would be a distinct advantage)
  • Strong multitasking abilities, managing multiple, often tight deadlines
