The Turkish Industry and Business Association (TÜSİAD) Washington Representative Office is seeking a full-time research assistant.

TÜSİAD is an independent, non-governmental, non-profit business organization, which represents a very large share of the Turkish economy. Member companies, including many U.S. multinationals, account for 85% of Türkiye's total foreign trade volume (excluding energy imports), 50% of total private sector employment, and 80% of total corporate taxes. TÜSİAD promotes principles of participatory democracy, a competitive market economy, environmental sustainability, and universal freedoms and human rights. TÜSİAD is a member of BusinessEurope and the Global Business Coalition, and has a strong international network of five representative offices around the world: Washington, D.C., Brussels, Paris, Berlin, and Ankara. The TÜSİAD Washington Representative Office was established in 1998 and works to develop and strengthen the U.S. – Türkiye relationship, from a business perspective.

The research assistant will report to the Washington Representative.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Conduct in-depth research, edit, and proofread materials
  • Draft speeches and talking points
  • Track news, data and analyses on political and economic developments in Türkiye and the U.S.
  • Prepare weekly and monthly newsletters for distribution
  • Attend meetings, conferences, panel discussions and prepare briefings and memos
  • Maintain and update website, blogs, and social media
  • Coordinate and plan events and meetings. Responsibilities include scheduling, preparing invitations, travel and accommodation arrangements, corresponding with speakers, helping to prepare background papers and materials for distribution, and providing logistical support
  • Develop and maintain contacts with partner institutions
  • Provide administrative support to the Representative, handling correspondence, scheduling, travel and accommodation arrangements and responding to requests for information
  • Office management
  • Business network management: administrative support to the TÜSİAD New York and Silicon Valley Networks
  • Recruit and supervise interns
  • Other related tasks


Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s/Master’s degree in International Affairs, Political Science, Economics or related field with superior academic achievement
  • Proven interest in foreign policy, U.S. - Türkiye political and economic relations, the EU, technology policy and other relevant policy areas
  • Fluency in English. Fluency in Turkish strongly preferred
  • Strong computer skills in MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and database management.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills; including proofreading and editing ability
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and competing deadlines
  • Ability to work flexible hours and independently
