The Director For Global Public And Government Affairs (PGA) Will Work With The Vice President For Global PGA And Other Mondelez Associates To
- advance Mondelez's purpose and positions through engagement of policy makers and influencers,
- shape government measures using sound science and other evidence, and
- enhance the reputation of the company and its categories and brands.
Primary Responsibilities
- Design and drive execution of the company's global PGA annual and longer-term plan.
- Anticipate the direction of travel of government policy material to Mondelez's business through analysis of political, geopolitical, and macroeconomic developments.
- Set advocacy priorities, including by determining the impact of laws, regulations, and other government rules on Mondelez.
- Establish the company's global corporate position on government measures material to the business.
- Catalyze internal operational changes in response to public policy relevant to Mondelez.
- Coordinate the delivery of economic value contributions, e.g., cost savings, through successful advocacy.
- Oversee the implementation of:
- Mondelez's global advocacy strategy on governments' health and well-being measures (aimed at curbing consumption of certain types of products), and
- the associated strategic progress indicators.
- Support local CGA teams' advocacy efforts and enhance their efficacy in addressing PGA issues by:
- providing leadership to the Global PGA Community of Practice, and
- spearheading the development and socialization of multimarket PGA projects and global PGA assets/enablers.
- Shape government measures material to Mondelez's business by engaging policy makers and influencers:
- Executive officials and legislators,
- international organization officials, and
- thought leaders in think tanks and other expert bodies.
- Serve as a strategic partner to local CGA teams, business leaders, and other functions (Strategy, Finance, Tax, Legal, Research and Development, Impact/Sustainability, Supply Chain, Procurement, and Insights and Analytics).
- Enhance Mondelez's visibility and reputation, and advance its policy positions through active participation and leadership in trade associations, business coalitions, professional organizations, and other fora.
Qualifications
- At least 14 years of experience in government (public sector) and/or government affairs (private sector).
- Graduate degree in international relations, business, law, nutrition, and/or economic or sustainability policy.
- Knowledge of policy issues relevant to the food industry, particularly in the following priority areas:
- nutrition, health, and well-being,
- sustainability, and
- license to operate (e.g., cross-border trade, including tariffs, taxation, price controls, labor disciplines).
- Proven ability to shape government initiatives and measures.
- Demonstrated capacity to lead projects and deliver results.
- Excellent distillation and communication skills (written and verbal).
- Ease in dealing with senior leaders and preparing them for engagement with policy makers and influencers.
- Proactive, independent, and resourceful way of working.
- Experience working collaboratively with colleagues from a variety of cultures and in cross-functional teams.
- Ability to work in fast-paced dynamic environment and prioritize among competing workstreams.
- Skilled in problem solving and development of creative approaches.
- Facility with PowerPoint, Microsoft Word, and Excel.
The base salary range for this position is $141,000 to $246,750; the exact salary depends on several factors such as experience, skills, education, and budget. In addition to base salary, this position is eligible for participation in a highly competitive bonus program with possibility for overachievement based on performance and company results and eligibility to participate in our long-term incentive program.
