Position specifications

Your team

You will be part of the Operations Unit and report to its Head of Unit.

The Operations Unit is responsible for all activities related to the provision of our product lines, which currently consist of the euro zone’s most important critical financial benchmark EURIBOR, its fallback rate EFTERM and the commercial paper market label STEP. These activities encompass: the design and development of existing and new products; their governance, quality control, as well as their distribution.

Furthermore, the Operations Unit implements internal operational processes, oversees outsourced processes, and interacts with contributing panel banks. Finally, the Operations Unit also monitors, analysis and reports on conjunctural and structural developments in money markets, in particular in the euro area.

Your role

The position is permanent, full-time and based in Brussels.

Benchmarks Officer will be:

Responsible for: (together with the other Benchmark Officer responsible for Governance)

      • Defining, reviewing, and monitoring the implementation of the benchmarks governance framework, in particular the Code of Obligations of Panel Banks;
      • Ensuring that benchmarks operations are in line with regulatory and supervisory (requirements and) recommendations;
      • Maintaining contacts to EURIBOR Panel Banks, including oversight of their compliance with the EURIBOR Code of Obligations for Panel Banks;
      • Ensuring smooth internal and external audits by acting as the main point of contact within the Benchmark team.

Contributing to:

      • Controlling, monitoring and/or implementing the daily collection, calculation and publication processes of EMMI’s benchmarks;
      • Controlling, monitoring and continuously enhancing the quality of the benchmarks; drafting and reviewing of relevant procedures;
      • Preparation and support of the Unit’s contributions to meetings of EMMI’s oversight bodies, in particular the EURIBOR and Efterm Oversight Committees.

Qualifications

You have the following qualifications and experience:

      • Master’s degree (or Bachelor degree plus 5 years of relevant experience) in Finance, Economics, Business Administration, Law or another relevant field;
      • Experience in governance/Compliance/Internal control related topics;
      • Advanced knowledge of MS Office, in particular Word, Excel and Power Point;
      • Experience in stakeholder engagement and maintaining industry contacts;
      • Understanding of BMR and/or IOSCO principles and financial regulation is an asset;
      • Advanced command of English, both written and oral;
      • Intermediate command of at least one other official language of the EU.
