CropLife Europe (CLE) is the voice of the Crop Protection sector in Europe. As a Brussels-based association, we represent 26 market-leading companies as well as National Associations in 32 countries. Our members are global companies, small and medium-size enterprises (SMEs) and national associations operating in conventional pesticides, biopesticides, plant biotechnology, and digital and precision agriculture.

Our sector strives to accelerate the development of new, better solutions to farmers’ problems of pests, climate, and diseases, and to advance enhanced farming practices that utilise modern technologies to produce our food while using less resources. The Position:

CropLife Europe is recruiting a Director/Senior Manager of Regulatory Affairs to design and deliver strategies that support the regulatory environment in Europe for our sector and our partners.

The Director/Senior Manager of Regulatory Affairs will be responsible for leading the Crop Protection & Biopesticides Policy Team composed of member companies’ representatives on its internal work and the coordination of the several policy areas related to the Association’s priorities.

In this role, the individual will also act as an ambassador for the Crop Protection sector, fostering understanding, recognition and dialogue around the priorities of the association in the context of sustainable agriculture.

A key part of the role is to ensure that policies and legislation in the European Union remain science- and risk-based approach, accelerate innovation for the farmers’ toolbox and encourage the introduction of new technologies and practices.

The successful candidate will:

      • Propose courses of action within the regulatory area’s scope;
      • Set objectives and monitor performance, ensuring alignment with organisational priorities;
      • Support staff, fostering professional growth and development, promoting wellbeing and a positive, collaborative working environment;
      • Ensure compliance with CLE procedures and drive continuous improvement in internal processes;
      • Support the regulatory affairs teams’ relationships with internal and external stakeholders to ensure effective cooperation;
      • Contribute to the CLE Management Team, assisting the Director General in managing the association as a whole.

CLE is seeking a dynamic, well-qualified, and highly motivated professional with in-depth knowledge of EU law and sectoral expertise in at least one area within CLE’s scope. The ideal candidate will demonstrate strong leadership qualities, exceptional interpersonal skills, and outstanding communication abilities. Qualifications

      • Master’s degree in law and/or European studies, and at least 15 years of professional experience;
      • Thorough knowledge of EU law and the regulatory landscape, including key legislation governing the chemical, agri-food, or crop protection sector;
      • Minimum 15 years of professional experience in the private or public sector, with at least five years in a leadership or coordination role;
      • Strong leadership, organisational, analytical, interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to build consensus and support others’ growth;
      • Proactive approach and initiative to advance projects and cases effectively;
      • The ability to work both independently and collaboratively in an international environment;
      • Flexibility to adapt to changing priorities and requirements;
      • Proficiency in IT tools and document management systems;
      • Excellent command of written and spoken English (CLE’s working language) as well as proven legal drafting ability.

Desirable Requirements:

      • A solid understanding of EU institutions and the political environment is preferred. Knowledge of the intricacies of the EU landscape will be a valuable asset;
      • While not mandatory, experience in or a strong interest in sector, chemicals or wider agri-food sector would be advantageous.
