With 21 member groups who represent over 480 organisations from 18 countries, ECCJ is the only European coalition bringing together European campaigns and national platforms of NGOs, trade unions, consumer organisations and academics to promote corporate accountability.

The Communications Officer will strengthen ECCJ's public voice by delivering coherent, compelling, and values-based communication that contributes to our advocacy, policy, and network impact.
Within the team, the Communications Officer is a strong communicator, able to translate complex policy content into clear, accessible,and engaging messages. They bring solid skills across core communication areas, including writing, editing, content creation, design coordination and digital communication, and combine this with a high level of reliability,organisation,and attention to detail. Committed to corporate accountability and justice, they work collaboratively across the Secretariat while.This role requires comfort working with legal and policy content.
Support the development and implementation of ECCJ's communications and narrative strategies.
Develop coherent key messages aligned with ECCJ's policy and advocacy priorities.
Ensure ECCJ's communications reflect its justice-based values and contribute to a strong, Europe-wide narrative on corporate accountability.
Contribute to narrative initiatives that amplify member perspectives, collective impact, and policy achievements.
Help maintain an editorial tone, message coherence, and consistent branding across all outputs.
Support the Director and portfolio leads in ensuring communications reflect ECCJ's strategic positioning.
Develop communications materials that complement ECCJ's advocacy strategies and political moments.
Support internal decision-making processes for messaging, ensuring alignment between advocacy, policy, and communications.
Draft advocacy-related content, including statements, calls to action, event summaries, and briefings for social media.
Coordinate with the rest of the Advocacy and Communications Portfolio team as well as the Policy Portfolio team to ensure accuracy and consistency of messages.
Work with the Advocacy and Communications Portfolio team and the Policy Portfolio team during high-intensity periods to enhance visibility, narrative coherence and messaging discipline.
Draft and disseminate press releases, media advisories, statements, newsletters, blog posts and other written content.
Support and ensure media engagement, including by identifying opportunities for visibility and maintaining journalist contacts where needed.
Coordinate with the Director and Portfolio Leads on high-profile external communications.
Prepare and edit communications materials for reports, campaigns, member initiatives and events.
Ensure consistency,quality and accuracy across all written and visual materials.
Manage ECCJ's social media presence (planning, copywriting, scheduling, community management and analytics).
Maintain and update ECCJ's website and digital platforms to reflect ongoing advocacy and policy work.
Monitor digital engagement and contribute insights for organisational learning.
Coordinate the creation of videos, infographics and digital assets with external contractors if needed.
Convene and coordinate editorial meeting/monthly comms meetings; support cross-team learning and monitoring of communications outputs.
Ensure smooth communications flow within the Secretariat, including between Advocacy, Policy,Fundraising and the Director.
Liaise with ECCJ members to share content, amplify network actions and strengthen a coordinated collective voice.
Maintain communications channels with members, including newsletters and working groups (e.g., Signal groups).
Strong writing and editing skills with proven experience translating complex legal and policy issues into clear,accurate communications for public and institutional audiences.
Strong editorial judgement, including the ability to assess legal and policy risk in external messaging.
Experience in managing social media and/or digital communication platforms.
Proven content creation skills.
At least 5 years of experience in communications, journalism,campaigning or digital outreach.
Experience working in a legal, policy, or advocacy environment where communications are closely linked to regulatory or legal outcomes.
Experience in media coordination and organising media events.
Design skills or the ability to coordinate design work.
Understanding of communications within civil society or advocacy contexts.
Basic understanding of EU institutions and legislative processes relevant to the organisation's work.
Highly proficient in spoken and written English.
EU citizenship or valid work permit for Belgium.
Basic understanding of Business and Human Right, or human rights and environmental issues.

Ability to work autonomously and collaboratively.

A full-time position;
