Position description

We are looking for an Advocacy Intern to join us in our Brussels Advocacy office on a 6 month fixed term contract.

This is a fantastic development opportunity for you to gain experience in a leading international not for profit organisation (iNGO), and in particular, to deepen your understanding of issues relating to the rights of children in developing countries. During your time with us you'll also have an opportunity to further your knowledge of the European institutions as well as the links between the work of Save the Children at Brussels level, and that of our European members.

To be suited to this opportunity, you'll have a passion for working in the NGO sector and ideally have a postgraduate degree in the field of international development, international relations, and European studies (linked to international development). You will also have some prior knowledge of the European Union and its institutions. You will be able to demonstrate excellent communication skills, be fluent in written and spoken English and, ideally, have knowledge of French or another European language. You will be able to manage small or medium size projects, whilst working with a rapidly changing set of priorities.

The organisation

We employ approximately 17,000 people across the globe and work on the ground in over 50 countries to help children affected by crises, or those that need better healthcare, education and protection. We also campaign and advocate at the highest levels to realise children's rights and ensure their voices are heard.

We are working towards 3 breakthroughs in how the world treats children by 2030:

  • No child dies from preventable causes before their 5th birthday
  • All children learn from a quality basic education and that,
  • Violence against children is no longer tolerated

We know that great people make a great organization, and that our employees play a crucial role in helping us achieve our ambitions for children. We value our people and offer a meaningful and rewarding career, along with a collaborative and inclusive workplace where ambition, creativity, and integrity are highly valued.
