Position description

Created in 1979, Action Contre la Faim (ACF) is a non-governmental organization that fights against hunger. Its charter of humanitarian principals- independence, neutrality, non-discrimination, free and direct access to victims, professionalism, transparency - has been part of its identity for more than 35 years. Its mission is to save lives by eliminating hunger through the prevention, detection and treatment of under-nutrition, particularly during and after emergency situations linked to conflicts or natural disasters. Action Contre la Faim focuses its actions on 5 main areas of expertise: nutrition and health – healthcare and care practices - food security and livelihoods – water, sanitation and hygiene – advocacy. Country: Belgium – Brussels

Length of contract: internship – 6 months

The position: Under the supervision of the Advocacy Officer in charge of the program “people on the move”, based in Brussels, you will contribute to the implementation of Action Contre la Faim humanitarian advocacy strategy.

More precisely, your main responsibilities will be

Participate in the implementation of the advocacy strategy on forced displacements, humanitarian issues and technical advocacy through research work and drafting of briefing notes

  • Ensure the monitoring of the humanitarian situation in prioritized countries

Ensure monitoring of EU institutions activities and latest political developments on forced displacement and humanitarian issues

  • Analyze the latest political development on relevant themes at the EU level
  • Ensure a mapping of the relevant actors and their positions on a regular basis

General support to humanitarian advocacy activities: 

  • Support to the advocacy team on ongoing projects according to the needs.
  • Support to the organization of events and conferences organized by Action Contre la Faim in Brussels

The applicant: you prepare a Master in development aid, international relations, political sciences, and European politics. You have excellent communication skills (analysis skills and drafting skills) both written and oral.  You are fluent in English and French and you have Knowledge of European institutions.

You are a team player and you have the ability to prioritize

Status: a compensation estimated to be between 486€ and 621€ (on a 37,5h week basis – according to the working days on each month), luncheon voucher for a value of 8€ (up to 85% is taken in charge by ACF) and transport cost (up to 50% is taken in charge by ACF)
