Position description

We are looking for an enthusiastic individual with insatiable curiosity, dedication to quality, and a desire to be part of a rapidly growing company. The ideal candidate will have experience with military, government, and/or international affairs organizations and excellent management and communication skills.

Remote work is permitted during the pandemic. Physical office space, Metro accessible on the Silver Line (Springhill Metro), is also provided in the Vienna/Tysons Corner area. 


Position Summary:

The Site Lead will manage all aspects of the Africa regional team, including customer/user relationships, development and organization of reports, supervision of staff, and project management/prioritization. The Site Lead is expected to serve as a functional and regional subject matter expert during meetings and briefings, and develop in-depth, working relationships with customers, data providers, and platform users.


Required Experience:

  • Experience working in international relations, foreign affairs, military affairs, and/or international development.

  • Experience working with US Government customers (including DoD, DoS, IC, interagency).

  • Experience producing research products on international subjects.

  • Fluency in English required. French or Arabic desired.

  • US Citizenship and eligibility for security clearance.

Desired Experience:

  • Experience with customer/user relationship management.

  • BA/BS/MS in foreign affairs, history, area studies, public policy, or governmental studies.

  • OCONUS (field or deployed) work or study experience.

Skills and Abilities:

  • Ability to work both independently and as a team 

  • Ability to execute high value projects with little supervision

  • Ability to supervise a staff of researchers amid competing priorities and tight deadlines

  • Ability to quickly learn new software, navigate new digital tools, and apply them to current workflows

  • High level of interpersonal skills to effectively interact with all levels of staff and US and foreign government personnel

  • Excellent communication skills to effectively present information and respond to questions

  • Exceptional writing skills to effectively create clear and concise reports
