Position description

The Faculty of the Higher Education Administration (HEA) program at the George Washington University are looking for a professor (open rank) to join the program, appointment beginning as early as Fall 2020. Rank is commensurate with experience. We value the cultivation of scholarly identities, inquiry-driven learners, critically-reflective practitioners and social justice practices. Our current research agenda focuses on higher education policy, equity and diversity, organizational theory, and strong research skills in quantitative or mixed-methods. The position will be located on the Foggy Bottom campus, Washington D.C.

Specific Duties and Responsibilities: 

The successful candidate will be expected to 1) teach graduate courses in the HEA doctoral and master’s programs at the Foggy Bottom campus and in on-line delivery formats, 2) advise a diverse group of doctoral students (including chairing and serving on dissertation committees), 3) help shape the direction of the program including curriculum and assessment initiatives and recruitment of prospective students, 4) maintain a research agenda, and 5) be an active contributor to the Higher Education Administration Program, the Department of Educational Leadership, the Graduate School of Education and Human Development, and the George Washington University, serving on program, department, school, and university administrative committees.

Minimum Qualifications:

Basic Qualifications: 
All applicants must have: 
• An earned doctorate in higher education or closely related field by date of appointment;  
• Emerging or demonstrated evidence to teach graduate level courses;
• Emerging or demonstrated evidence to advance research and practices in higher education;
• Demonstrated capacities or evidence to advise and lead master’s and doctoral students in their research.
