Position description

The Community of European Railway and Infrastructure Companies (CER) is currently seeking to hire a motivated and experienced Head of Communications to join its team ideally as of end January 2021.

General responsibilities:

Reporting to the Executive Director, the Head of Communications’ main responsibility will be media relations, publications, media campaigns and event management and internal communication with CER members.

Key responsibilities:

  • manage a small team;
  • organise public events including the European Railway Award and European Year of Rail;
  • plan and manage big media campaigns;
  • edit regular internal and public newsletters;
  • manage the production of CER publications;
  • write press releases and media briefings;
  • monitor European media on transport related issues;
  • maintain and update media contacts.

Qualifications

  • as a minimum a university degree, preferably in journalism and/or international relations;
  • a minimum of 5 years of professional experience in communications and event management;
  • fluency in English, with a good knowledge of German and/or French;
  • outstanding drafting skills and oral presentation skills;
  • a solid experience in writing and editing texts;
  • IT literate including knowledge of website management (CMS) and social media channels; perfectly at ease with MS Office; knowledge of design software (e.g. Adobe InDesign);
  • excellent interpersonal and organisational skills, with the ability to work independently and as part of a multinational team;
  • an entrepreneurial outlook, with an ability to meet tight deadlines;
  • stress resistant multitasker;
  • high degree of attention to detail and commitment to quality.
