The Carnegie Endowment for International Peace, a unique global network of policy research centers in Russia, China, Europe, the Middle East, India, and the United States, is seeking a Media Relations Coordinator with between one and three years of experience in media relations, a strong interest in foreign policy, excellent writing and editing skills, and an understanding and interest in foreign policy and the news media to join its communications team in Washington.
The primary responsibility for the successful candidate will be assisting the Managing Director in the development of a media strategy that positions Carnegie as a valuable source for journalists covering a breadth of topics pitching content including opinion pieces and media stories, and serving as the primary point of contact for all press requests. Additionally, the role is responsible for helping to build relationships with journalists and expanding Carnegie’s network of journalist contacts, monitoring Carnegie’s media coverage, managing the media database and building lists, and supporting Carnegie’s in-house studio including duties related to podcast production.
Between one and three years of experience in media relations is required, and preference will be given to candidates who have experience pitching news stories and opinion pieces. An in-depth understanding of, and interest in, foreign policy issues, the international news cycle, and traditional and new media is essential. Excellent attention to detail and communications and writing skills required. The ideal candidate will be energetic, creative, collaborative, and thrive in a team environment.
