Position description

The successful candidate will be required to:

· Teach Bachelor’s and Master’s level courses in International Relations and International Relations Theory, Foreign Policy and International Corruption.

· Supervise Master’s and Doctoral research.

· Develop new courses and programmes.

· Modify and upgrade course material on an ongoing basis.

· Coordinate internships and other student programmes.

· Conduct original, high quality scholarly research for publication in leading academic journals.

· Provide scholarly inputs into the Department’s outreach programmes.

· Develop funding proposals and raise funds to support scholarly research

· Participate in relevant university committees and boards.

· Provide leadership, as required in support of the overall strategy of the Department.

Qualification, Training & Experience:

· A Ph.D. in International Relations or Political Science

· An appropriate track record and a significant potential for carrying out scholarly research

· An appropriate record of teaching combined with a willingness to undertake training in teaching at the tertiary level.

· Experience in the administration and development of internship programmes

Candidates who possess the following will be at a distinct advantage:

· Experience supervising research (MPhil/PhD) students;

· Evidence of prior grant acquisition;

· Certificate in University Teaching;

· Evidence of Curriculum Development (face to face or distant delivery modes);

· Administrative Experience within an Academic Institution;

· Evidence of contribution to the Public Service OR field of Study.
