Working on cutting-edge research and development on strategic technology and innovation ranging from semiconductors to batteries, Samsung is currently expanding its EU sustainability team to further harmonise its policy and advocacy work across the continent.

About the Role

Samsung Electronics European Public affairs office based in Brussels is expanding its EU Sustainability team as they are looking for an Environmental, Social & Governance Manager. The selected candidate will be in charge of the ESG working group coordination and stakeholder engagement under the direct supervision of the ESG Director.

This position is intended to provide a dynamic professional with the opportunity to gain:

  • Experience in implementing an ambitious ESG scheme at EU level in a Global company;
  • Exposure to a broad range of EU stakeholders;
  • In- depth knowledge of the industrial consequences of key European ESG legislation (governance, disclosure, circular economy, value chain, climate).

In terms of responsibilities:

  • Monitor, report and synthesize horizontally on key ESG policy developments on priority topics (Circular economy, Sustainability and Climate Change, Value chain, Governance) at national and EU level;
  • Bring support for ESG actions planning and executing strategies under the supervision of the ESG Director;
  • Create, monitor and update ESG specific institutional and stakeholder mapping for engagement purposes;
  • Support ESG team ahead of meetings with EU officials and stakeholders across a variety of venues;
  • Participation in the recurring meetings with the ESG team and EPA office.

About the Experience and skills

We are looking for a driven EU policy professional with the following background:

  • A relevant university degree, be it in policy, political science, international relations, EU affairs or law, political sciences, economics (preferably related to sustainability and environment);
  • Proven experience in following policies related to sustainability and environment (such as the Green deal);
  • Very good coordination, time management skills and ability to work under pressure;
  • Prior experience in managing a multistakeholder working process (input gathering, agenda, minutes);
  • Ability to synthesize and implement methodologies;
  • Fluency in English and at least another EU language (German or French appreciated).

In terms of skills, the preferred candidate is going to bring along the following:

  • Sense of initiative and proactive attitude;
  • Strong motivation and willingness to learn;
  • Good organizational skills with the ability to prioritize;
  • Good interpersonal skills with the ability to work in an international team;
  • Ability to build relationship and engage with stakeholders.
