Position description

The OMCT is recruiting for a new position in Brussels - which is part of a dedicated development team across OMCT offices - to reinforce its fundraising from institutional donors and partners, including bilateral and multilateral agencies, foundations and corporations.

ROLE & RESPONSIBILITIES

The incumbent will work under the supervision of the Director of Development, based in Geneva, and in close coordination with the OMCT Europe Director in Brussels. The primary role of this post is to strengthen OMCT’s funding and donor relations with state and foundation donors, but also to explore other innovative models for income generation for the OMCT in Belgium, and globally.

Key responsibilities of the position include:

Fundraising

  • Participate in the development of OMCT’s international fundraising strategy for its thematic and regional programmes and identify prospective donors and funding opportunities.
  • Draft and support the submission of funding proposals to government donors, foundations, and other institutional donors (project and proposal development, submission, follow-up).
  • Serve as the lead fundraising focal point in the OMCT Europe Office, towards the EU and with a special focus on European and regional fundraising.
  • Prepare written communications and projects for the development department including letters of inquiry, proposals, reports, concept notes, grant applications, and periodic updates on activities to secure new funding and renewals, and to comply with grant reporting requirements.
  • Work with communications, programmes, and operations teams to ensure all organizational documents used regularly for fundraising are relevant and up to date. Suggest and create new materials.
  • Prepare relevant team members for meetings with (potential) funders.

Reporting and Compliance

  • Ensure appropriate communications with funders (esp. acknowledgments and reports) and record this in donor database (CRM: Salesforce).
  • Serve as a focal point on reporting to donors, working collaboratively with programme staff to pro-actively highlight impacts and value added, while also ensuring compliance with donors’ reporting deadlines.
  • Serve as the Development team focal point for maintenance of Institutional Donors’ contacts in the CRM, as well as for all online donor platforms for submission and reporting.

Other relevant responsibilities

  • Participate in and provide support to relevant OMCT events such as donor and fundraising meetings and represent the OMCT in meetings or events.
  • Coordinate and manage development interns in the Brussels office as well as providing support for the contracting of development consultants, and management of their work, as relevant.

Qualifications

  • At least 3 years of fundraising experience in human rights or a related field (humanitarian, law, development, environment, etc.) required.
  • University or master’s degree in international relations, economics, political science, business, NGO management or human rights preferred.
  • Excellent language skills, including writing, speaking and presentation skills in French and English, with the ability to write persuasively, to listen and inspire.
