Pay Range
$5,380.00 - $7,372.00 Monthly
Please note that the pay range information is a general guideline only. Many factors are taken into consideration when setting starting pay including education, experience, the external labor market, and internal equity.
Job Description
We have an opening for an Academic Graduate Appointee to work under the guidance of staff members to apply a combination of technical and analytic depth and breadth, critical thinking, modeling and simulation, reasoning, and judgement skills to understand complex, multi-domain problem areas and provide decision insight, communicate options and trade-offs, and facilitate the integration of new technology and policy in support of customer missions. This position will be in Cyber and Infrastructure Resilience (CIR) program within the Global Security Principal Directorate’s Energy and Homeland Security (E) Program.
In this role you will
- Contribute to the design, creation, and fulfillment of analytical frameworks and evaluate competing characteristics to determine solutions that most effectively meet customer and stakeholder objectives
- Contribute to the fulfillment of research projects and organizational objectives functioning as an effective team member on multi-disciplinary teams
- Collaborate with other Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory (LLNL) scientists and engineers to bring research results to practical use in LLNL Global Security programs
- Engage other scientists frequently to solicit and share relevant knowledge, opinions, and recommendations, working to fulfill deliverables as a team
- Perform other duties as assigned
Qualifications
- Ability to secure and maintain a U.S. DOE Q-level security clearance which requires U.S. citizenship
- Bachelor’s degree in diplomacy and international relations, or equivalent combination of education and related experience
- Knowledge of laws, regulations, policies, government relations, foreign affairs, and current global issues
- Experience in one or more of the following computational disciplines, risk analysis, statistics, or data information query, processing, analysis, and validation techniques
- Effective interpersonal skills necessary to interact with all levels of personnel and ability to work independently in a multi-disciplinary team environment
- Effective written and verbal communication skills to document and present technical information and analytic findings for both technical and non-technical audiences
Qualifications We Desire
- Knowledge of Global Security’s Energy and Homeland Security (E) Program
- Experience with modeling and simulation tools such as ExtendSim and Simulink
- Experience working with vendors, utilities, and state or federal government agencies
