PURPOSE
The Deputy Protection Coordinator in charge of coaching participates to the coordination and supervision of the implementation of protection activities in Colombia, in particular s/he veils for the protection activities to be in line with the priorities, strategies, guidelines, objectives, outcomes, tools and methodologies set by the delegation.
TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Ensure that colleagues newly integrated into the delegation in positions with responsibility for protection activities are able to develop them in line with the priorities, strategies, guidelines, objectives, results and with the working tools and methodologies established by the delegation.
- Provide technical coaching to colleagues, mainly through accompaniment during field trips or eventually to ICRC structures in the field, but also virtually, through group or individual sessions.
- Participates to the implementation of any relevant Protection activities, such as dialogue with arms carriers and persuasion of relevant authorities, community-based protection exercises, reinforcement of the auto-protection mechanisms of the communities, groups or/and individuals, participation in interinstitutional meetings aiming at improving the coordination between actors, etc.
- Participates to and leads training and coaching sessions related to Protection activities in the Delegation. In particular, leads some sessions in the course for the newcomers in Colombia, SIP, possibly specific Protection courses for the delegation, etc.
- Establishes a contact with the mobile staff recently arrived to the delegation, in the month of their arrival, to provide them with the main orientations with regard to the Protection strategies, guidelines and tools, including the documents of reference.
Qualifications
- Professional in human sciences with knowledge of International Humanitarian Law.
- At least 3 years of experience in the humanitarian field, ideally working with the ICRC in Colombia or other countries.
- Good knowledge of Protection work.
- Experience working with communities and local authorities.
- Experience in dialogue with armed actors.
- Experience in terms of training or coaching of adults.
- Fluency in Spanish and English (Minimum C1 Level)
- Knowledge of French is an asset.
- Availability to travel to rural areas approximately 70%.
- If you do not have Colombian nationality, you must be legally authorized to work in Colombia (work permit, residence or legal status), since the organization does not process visas.
