Position description

The Department of Political Science at The University of Scranton invites applications for a tenure-track, Assistant Professor in U.S. politics, Public Policy, or related field to begin in August 2025.

Essential Duties

Strong commitment to undergraduate teaching, scholarship, and service. The ideal candidate should be broadly trained, and prepared to deliver introductory and elective courses aligned with their interests and expertise and in support of departmental curriculum in Political Science and Public Policy & Service, including those that will help students develop technical and data literacy skills needed to successfully navigate a rapidly changing digital and informational political environment that increasingly relies on Artificial Intelligence (AI), spatial analysis, and big data.

Candidates will also be expected to support University conversations around technology and data opportunities and challenges. The standard teaching load is 3-3. The capability to develop an active research agenda that involves mentoring undergraduate students is preferred.

Minimum Education Requirements

Applicants should have a Ph.D. in Political Science, Public Policy, or related field at time of appointment; strong ABDcandidates will be considered.
