Position description

Transparency International (TI) is the global civil society organisation leading the fight against corruption. In collaboration with more than 100 chapters worldwide and an international secretariat in Berlin, Germany, TI raises awareness of the damaging effects of corruption and works with partners in government, business and civil society to develop and implement effective measures to tackle it.

Main function: 

The Communications Assistant role supports the development and implementation of communications products and strategies that communicate TI’s mission, programmes, projects and advocacy positions targeted at a range of different audiences. Working under the supervision of the Head of Communications, the Communications Assistant provides assistance to deliver written and visual communications that convey Transparency International’s messaging and position.

  • Develop communications products, including video, social media content, written content both online and offline, to support broader communications goals
  • Identify communications opportunities, especially in the press, to increase visibility of TI activities, chapters and programmes
  • Assist TI-S media relations for agreed advocacy and policy priority issues and products, fielding media inquiries where appropriate, delivering media lists
  • Contribute to achieving the Communications Team workplan, by providing support, including in the organization of events (workshops, meetings, media launches, training, etc.)
  • Coordinate the publication of TI-S daily and weekly newsletters by identifying/suggesting topics and drafting and editing texts; ensure that they are issued on time and in line with TI-S communications plans/priorities; monitor engagement and collaborate with colleagues to expand the reach and engagement
  • Contribute to TI-S media relations for agreed advocacy and policy priorities, fielding media inquiries, delivering successful media relations management by maintaining the media contact database; provide media monitoring analysis by preparing and distributing reports for specific activities
  • Support training and capacity building of chapter communications and advocacy initiatives and activities


  • University degree or equivalent qualification in relevant fields
  • 2+ years of experience in communications, preferably in an international organisation
  • Experience in video production, social media content development and media relations desired
  • Excellent communication skills in English (to native speaker standard) required; additional languages (in particular Arabic, French and/or Spanish) an asset
  • Excellent organizational skills and ability to effectively manage priorities in a fast-paced and dynamic environment
  • Ability to work independently as well as part of a team
  • Demonstrated flexibility, initiative and creativity
  • High level of intercultural competence, diplomacy and political sensitivity
  • Interest in corruption, good governance and international affairs
