Position description

This position directs MBA and Undergraduate Partner Programs to build global business expertise while fulfilling the global business education goals of the Foster School of Business. Advise MBA and undergraduate students on study abroad and other global business education and career development opportunities. Support 200+ MBA and undergraduate students studying abroad annually including on the Foster School's largest partner program. This includes promotion, recruitment, preparation and communication to students before, during and after programs. Manage and support other international initiatives to ensure the Global Business Center achieves its objectives. This position reports to the Director of the Global Business Center.

MBA Study Abroad (50%)

      • International Exchange Programs
        • Handle full cycle application process for MBA incoming and outgoing exchange students.
        • Promote outgoing exchange opportunities to Foster students.
        • Coordinate with Director and UW Office of Global Affairs on strategy and policies for existing and new exchange programs.
        • Analyze gaps in existing exchange programs and implement new programs and services that address these gaps and meet the needs of Foster MBAs.
        • Lead information, orientation, and re-entry sessions for outgoing Foster MBA exchange students.
        • Manage incoming international exchange process by working with MBA Program office, Graduate Admissions, UW Study Abroad and CIRCLE.
        • Lead application, orientation, course selection, and evaluation process for incoming international students.
        • Maintain webpages and updated partner profiles for MBA exchanges.
        • Maintain relations with current MBA exchange program partners abroad; renew/cancel agreements as needed and establish new exchange partnerships and policies.
        • Manage, track and balance MBA exchange inflows and outflows.
        • Manage MBA exchange program budget and scholarships.

      • Global Business Study Tours/Experiential Learning
        • Develop new global experiential learning opportunities for MBA students and potentially co-lead at least one opportunity outside the U.S. annually.
        • Analyze the gaps in existing programming and develop a strategy to address these gaps to better serve Foster MBAs.
        • Promote study tour/experiential learning opportunities to prospective and current students year-round.
        • Train Study Tour/experiential learning faculty advisors and staff.
        • Manage Study Tour/experiential earning marketing and promotion, application and placement process, and student payments.
        • Manage Request for Proposal process from third party vendors for annual Study Tour/experiential learning destinations.
        • Work with third party vendors to develop itineraries, set program price, select companies/sites to visit and plan for logistics.
        • Oversee all participant/vendor payments and program budgets including program leader travel reimbursements.
        • Organize pre-departure sessions for each program in coordination with faculty and staff leaders
        • Update study tour/experiential participant information packet, and faculty leader manuals annually.
        • Evaluate programs, determine needed improvements and implement them as feasible.

Undergraduate Partner Study Abroad Programs (25%)

      • Establish and maintain strong relationships with institutional partners to ensure excellent study abroad programming for UW students.
      • Direct support of undergraduate UW students enrolled in partner programs throughout the cycle of the program, including predeparture correspondence and liaising with UW Study Abroad on requirements and predeparture tasks, addressing issues while students are abroad and evaluating the program after the students return (Approximately 100-150 undergraduate students per year).
      • Oversee all student correspondence and enrollment logistics related to the study abroad programs. This includes developing promotional materials for the programs; recruiting, info sessions, promotional events, selecting students; and developing presentations for and presenting at pre-departure sessions. The role works directly with partner contacts before, during and after the overseas experience.
      • Identify gaps and implement new partner program opportunities that serve Foster School undergraduate students.

MBA Global Programs - General (10%)

      • Determine new activities/methods and policies to build MBA global business expertise
      • Manage Foster Business Research Group providing MBA student research consulting expertise with faculty mentorship to the Gates Foundation Education Division.
      • Manage annual MBA Global Programs budgets, timelines, objectives, work breakdown and policies
      • Work closely with the MBA Program office, the Career Center, UW Office of Global Affairs, Graduate Admissions, Financial Aid, CIRCLE and the Global Business Association (student organization) officers
      • Serve as staff advisor/liaison for the Global Business Association
      • Align MBA global program offerings with MBA program office goals and MBA global rankings
      • Promote MBA Global Programs and showcase accomplishments through webpages, newsletters, brochures, information sessions, and social media
      • Respond to prospective student inquiries and advise current students on program offerings
      • Ensure MBA global programs align with UW and Foster school policies and regulations
      • Track participation in all MBA Global Programs for program evaluation, alumni engagement, donor stewardship and reporting.
      • Evaluate all MBA global programs and implement program improvements
      • Analyze gaps in on campus opportunities, develop and implement a strategy to increase global activities on campus.
      • Manage risk associated with MBA study abroad programs including being familiar with federal, state and university resources and requirements.
      • Represent the Global Business Center at Foster School Events, including those for admitted and prospective MBA students
      • Build relationships with and provide resources to international students enrolled in Foster School MBA programs
      • Represent the Foster School in national network of top MBA global business programs

MBA Global Business Program Certificate (10%)

      • Analyze gaps in existing program and develop a strategy to address the gaps and make the certificate more accessible and interesting to Foster MBA students.
      • Promote certificate opportunity to current and prospective students.
      • Advise students on certificate requirements, UW resources available to fulfill requirements, and determine student eligibility for certificates.
      • Recommend certificate program requirement revisions.
      • Support faculty with Global Business Forum weekly speaker series themes, speaker recruitment, researching community events and series marketing.

Global Business Center - General (5%)

      • Develop and manage social media calendar and implementation plan for MBA global programs (planning, content creation, posting).
      • Partner with Global Business Center teammates in delivering key events: annual global case competitions, community engagement events, MBA Global Business Study Tours
      • Partner with Director in developing strategies and delivering high quality study abroad experiences for the Foster School community.
      • Engage with the global business community to enrich the global business education offerings of the Foster School

Other duties as assigned

Minimum Qualifications

      • Bachelor’s degree in international relations, business, education or related field.
      • 3-4 years of program/project/event and budget management experience in a business or non-profit organization.

Equivalent education/experience will substitute for all minimum qualifications except when there are legal requirements, such as a license/certification/registration.
