Position description

We're looking for a Strategic Accounts Manager to join our Strategic Partnerships Team. This is a business development and client management role at the intersection of media, ideas, and global affairs — ideal for someone equally comfortable digging into prospecting research, crafting a compelling proposal, and working with clients and across teams to produce the world-class results we’re known for.

You'll work closely with senior members of the partnerships team and directly with clients, playing a key role in growing FP's commercial partnerships across events, analysis, podcasts, thought leadership, and integrated media campaigns.

What You'll Do

Business Development

      • Support the Strategic Partnerships team in day-to-day activities aimed at growing the business and fulfilling client engagements, including implementing AI-driven strategies to enhance output and efficiency

      • Identify and help to initiate new partnership opportunities through research, landscape analysis, and proactive outreach (including cold email campaigns)

      • Develop compelling proposals that integrate FP's full suite of platforms and align with client objectives

      • Proactively generate new ideas for events, analysis, podcasts, and thought leadership campaigns to pitch to prospective clients

Client Management & Delivery

      • Produce polished post-campaign recaps (using PowerPoint) for all projects that demonstrate performance and position FP for follow-on work

      • Support the delivery of media partnerships that expand FP's reach with new audiences

      • Serve as a day-to-day point of contact for clients, coordinating deliverables, managing timelines, and ensuring a high standard of execution

Operations & Research

      • Apply AI tools thoughtfully to enhance research, proposal production, and workflow efficiency, particularly when rethinking existing processes and undertaking new projects

      • Draft and finalize standard client contracts

      • Maintain and update prospect lists, subscriber databases, and event attendance records to identify leads

      • Support quarterly client prospecting events (breakfasts, webinars)

Qualifications

Required

      • Familiarity with AI tools and a genuine interest in using them to work smarter

      • 3+ years of experience in partnerships, client solutions, business development, or marketing — ideally in media, communications, advertising, or events

      • Strong written and verbal communication skills, with exceptional attention to detail

      • Comfort managing multiple priorities in a fast-moving environment

      • A track record of ownership: you follow through, you don't drop balls, and you push work across the finish line while meeting deadlines

      • Entrepreneurial approach to work with an ability to toggle between the big picture and minute details

Preferred

      • Experience with proposal writing and/or post-campaign reporting

      • Professional or personal interest in foreign policy, international affairs, or global business

      • Experience with cold outreach or lead generation

Compensation & Benefits

Salary range: $75,000 - $85,000Foreign Policy offers a comprehensive benefits program that gives eligible employees the flexibility to choose the right benefits for themselves and their families. There are three subsidized medical plans, a vision plan, and two dental plans, provided by Aetna, which can be paired with flexible spending accounts.
