Spirit of America seeks a Donor Relations Assistant to work in support of our development activities. The Donor Relations Assistant will report to the Sr Director for Donor Relations. As a member of a fast-paced, dynamic organization, the Donor Relations Assistant must be willing and able to perform a wide range of support functions to help ensure Spirit of America’s continued success in raising funds and expressing sincere gratitude to our donors and prospects. 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide administrative support to the Sr. Manager for Donor Relations and the entire development team in support of a meaningful donor stewardship program.
  • Coordinate donor stewardship events (both in person and virtual).
  • Coordinate donor gift process including production, distribution, and documentation in Salesforce.
  • Update the CRM as necessary to ensure proper documentation of moves management.
  • Track individual, corporate and foundation successes and translate this information into funder materials and pitches such as talking points and PowerPoint Presentations.
  • Provide meeting follow-up and support such as drafting emails and thank you notes and sending supplementary materials.
  • Respond to requests for information from donors relating to giving processes, procedures, and opportunities as well as well as gift documentation such as tax receipts and thank you letters.
  • Assist in managing a stewardship plan, including tracking, and following annual stewardship reporting.
  • Work collaboratively with the other development staff to assure compliance and accuracy in stewardship.
  • Collaborate with the Marketing and Communications team to ensure stewardship acknowledgements, donor gifts, and events are on brand with Spirit of America.
  • Coordinate with Marketing/Communications team to ensure timely distribution of social and email communications surrounding events (virtual and in person)
  • Ensure all donor email communications are logged in Salesforce
  • Assist in drafting and preparing, using existing templates, monthly gift acknowledgement letters.
  • Serve as back-up for entry of all donations into the CRM.
  • Provide additional administrative support as needed.


  • Bachelor’s degree
  • A minimum two-years of post-college experience.
  • US Military Veterans are highly encouraged to apply.
  • Ability to function independently with minimal oversight are essential.
  • Previous non-profit and/or fundraising experience is a plus.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills, a strong attention to detail, and excellent organizational skills are required. 
  • Basic computer and social media literacy to include Microsoft Office suite, Gmail, Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram is required.
  • Knowledge and/or experience with Salesforce, Adobe, and Box is a plus.
