The position is located in the Policy Section of the Office of the Assistant Administrator, National Preparedness Directorate (NPD). The ideal candidate will be enthusiastic about cultivating a prepared and resilient Nation through integration across NPD and the Agency as part of a team of customer-oriented professionals.

 

Duties

• Performs a variety of administrative or technical responsibilities in support of the Office of the Assistant Administrator for National Preparedness to accomplish coordination requirements for the Policy Section;
• Coordinates with multiple stakeholders to acquire input for strategies, plans, policy options, analysis, reports and other official documents, including handling Action Office packages and scheduling requirements;
• Prepares documents required by the Assistant Administrator, Deputy Assistant Administrator, Senior Advisor and the Policy Section Chief and shepherds them through the Action Office process;
• Collaborates with Subject Matter Experts and pays attention to details and deadlines in order to ensure documents and briefing materials meet requirements prior to review by leadership;
• Edits internal memos, talking points, meeting notes and reports for format, grammatical, spelling, and typographical errors;
• Organizes, participates in, and/or facilitates Directorate, Resilience, or FEMA-wide working groups or other discussions related to National Preparedness;
• Independently researches program policies and findings of administrative issues and prepares recommendations to the Policy Section Chief.

Qualifications

• Possesses strong interpersonal networking skills, identifying internal customer requirements and maintaining collaborative relationships; 
• Pays close attention to details and deadlines, and communicates details and deadlines effectively to internal stakeholders;
• Skilled in written communication and editing documents, such as memos, talking points, meeting notes and reports, for format, grammatical, spelling, and typographical errors;
• Is a team player coordinating assignments with other team members, and is willing serve as a back-up for team members if needed.
