Position description

Do you have experience with intelligence analysis as it relates to cyber?

Are you passionate about solving complicated research, engineering, and analytical problems to enable intelligence and military operations?

Do you enjoy contributing to a work environment that values innovation, collaboration, and risk-taking?

If so, we're looking for someone like you to join our team at APL.

We are seeking an analyst who has experience applying analytic approaches and solutions to tackle problems for which information is incomplete or for which no precedent exists. You’ll contribute to research and development projects when you join our team of hardworking engineers, scientists, and analysts who bring their diverse analytical and technical expertise to bear in solving system-level national security challenges facing the US and our allies. We are passionate about creating cyber attack methodologies and constructs used to assess the information environment. We are committed to making a real-world impact and solving the operational needs of the US government agencies and military organizations that we serve.

As a Cyber Intelligence Analyst...

  • Your primary responsibility will be to apply intelligence processes and tradecraft to a variety of national security problems. You will evaluate, analyze, and synthesize large quantities of data into high-quality findings.
  • As part of a team, you will apply critical thinking and use feedback to improve processes, products, and services.
  • You will conduct research to assess or estimate effects generated during and after cyber operations.
  • You will prepare and present high quality briefings and written reports for senior leadership and sponsors.

Qualifications

You meet our minimum qualifications for the job if you...

  • Possess a Bachelor's degree in intelligence, data science, security studies, computer science, cybersecurity, mathematics, systems engineering, operations research and systems analysis, or a closely related field. Other degrees such as an Associates or Bachelors in political science, international relations, or library science are highly considered with related technical experience.
  • Have a strong background using multiple analytic tools, databases, and tradecraft (e.g., Analyst’s Notebook, A-Space, Anchory, M3, Maltego, divergent/convergent thinking, link charts, matrices, etc.)
  • Have experience using multiple search engines (e.g., Google, Yahoo, LexisNexis, DataStar) and tools in conducting open-source searches.
  • Have 3+ years of experience applying research and analysis methodologies to real-world problems.
  • Have the demonstrated ability to present complex information, concepts, and ideas in a confident and well-organized manner to a wide variety of audiences, both technical and non-technical.
  • Hold an active Secret level security clearance, and can ultimately obtain a TS/SCI level clearance. If selected, you will be subject to a government security clearance investigation and must meet the requirements for access to classified information. Eligibility requirements include U.S. citizenship.

You'll go above and beyond our minimum requirements if you...

  • Have a MS or PhD in intelligence, data science, security studies, computer science, cybersecurity, mathematics, systems engineering, operations research and systems analysis, or related field.
  • Have 5+ years of relevant experience working in an intelligence or analyst role.
  • Have knowledge of fundamental cyber operations concepts, terminology, principles, capabilities, limitations, and effects.
  • Have experience applying Artificial Intelligence/Machine Learning principles to analytical problems.
  • Have experience with Publicly Available Information or Open Source Intelligence collection and analysis.
