Based in New York and San Francisco, the World Economic Forum LLC is impartial and not tied to any political, partisan or national interests. It is the North American subsidiary of the World Economic Forum, the International Organization for Public-Private Cooperation, headquartered in Geneva, Switzerland, under the supervision of the Swiss Federal Government. 

The World Economic Forum has developed System Initiatives to serve as platforms to bring together leaders and experts to tackle global issues that require public-private collaboration to find viable solutions. Each initiative is comprised of bodies of work with results-oriented projects and activities that mobilize leadership, expertise and resources from business, government, civil society and international organizations. The System Initiative on Shaping the Future of Financial and Monetary Systems (FMS) aims to build a more efficient, resilient and equitable international financial system by: 

  • Enhancing financial stability, innovation and economic growth by analysing the implications of industry transformation to better understand the competitive, human capital and regulatory dynamics that will exist in the financial sector of the future
  • Promoting global financial inclusion through a portfolio of in-country impact projects, identifying the highest potential opportunities to increase access to quality, affordable financial services for the unserved and underserved
  • Better understanding disruptive innovation in financial services by exploring how innovations are changing business models and restructuring ecosystems in specific areas in which financial services engages

The Community Coordinator will be responsible for providing a range of services to the System Initiative’s leadership and team, including communication, administration, operations, and community management and development support. The Community Coordinator’s main focus will be to improve the overall quality and efficiency of the FMS System Initiative’s communications and operations. 

Duties and Responsibilities 

  • Excel as a coordinator and administrator for events at sessions during the Forum’s global meetings
  • Streamline team processes, systems and tools based on needs, and continuously recommend improvements
  • Ensure an appropriate and timely flow of information with relevant teams
  • Support community events associated with the Forum’s official meetings and stand-alone events
  • Handle administrative tasks such as coordinating meetings internally and externally
  • Occasionally, support and manage specific events and/or sessions at events, handling logistics and operations for all meetings in coordination with relevant teams
  • Contribute to the curation of digital content on the Forum’s website, TopLink platform and Transformation Map tool as well as other marketing materials

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree (or equivalent) in business administration, communications, international relations, public policy or a similar field
  • 1-3 years of relevant professional experience, ideally a combination of private and public sectors
  • Interest in issues related to the global financial system, including but not limited to the banking, fintech and risk management industries; existing knowledge a plus
  • Excellent writing, lay-out, communications and marketing skills; with the ability to be concise and clear
  • Responsible, diligent and motivated, with demonstrated organizational, project and time management skills; strong attention to detail is a must
  • Self-starting, independent thinker who thrives as a flexible team player
  • High level of proficiency in Microsoft Word, PowerPoint and Excel; Salesforce experience is a plus
  • Ability to thrive in a demanding environment and handle multiple tasks and assignments simultaneously
  • Enthusiasm to collaborate with people from a diverse range of cultures and backgrounds
  • Fluency in English, oral and written, is required; knowledge of a foreign language, particularly Spanish or French, is desired
